How long does it take to Show

Recommended Posts

I was 246 pre-op and after two week liquid diet was down to 233. I am 11 days out and am about 215. But it doesn't show - my patents doesn't see it and think I may have wrong numbers. How long did it take for you all to show?

It didn't really start to show for me until I lost 30 pounds.

Im 5 weeks since surgery and down 37 pounds and even though no one tells me they notice it or not. I notice it! I am wearing clothes that I couldnt fit before. I believe it takes shorter people longer to notice the weight lost opposed to taller people. regardless keep doing what you are doing and eventually they will see it.

I was sleeved on May 3rd 2013 and on this week I am beginning to see the weight loss. I went to the Doc for my follow up on today. I have lost 24 lbs in 2 weeks. My pants are very loose. My highest weight was 350. I was 310 at my pre op. I am so so happy. But I really think it depends on the person, because you can lose inches and not lbs. So in time, you will see a difference.

It took me a long time to see my own loss. I didn't even wear difference size pants until after 40 pounds.

People didn't start noticing until around 40 lbs, and that was only a few people, more people are really noticing now and I'm at -68. I don't necessarily "see" it myself, but I have gone from a size 20 to 14. Don't get discouraged, it definitely takes a while for people to notice, but that doesn't mean you aren't doing great!

I was 247 before liquid diet. 237 on the day of surgery (5//6) and now I'm 225. I'm becoming obsessed with the scale! I'm thinking of asking my husband to hide it for a while. Good luck on your continued success, you're doing great!

I hope you stay motivated whether people say anything or not, because you will see/feel the diff maybe even before others do but also, I know like my husband will never say anything to other people when they've lost weight. He doesn't want them to know that he noticed they were "fat" prior to losing weight. He may just say "you look good" or "you look great" but he would never say "wow! Looks like you have lost weight!" To him, it feels like he's insulting people. He doesn't get it that WOMEN want to hear that all the time! LOL! But he notices EVERYTHING! He just feels its insulting people to tell them, so they may notice but just don't say anything. Keep up the good work!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
