"It's all new"........how are the lifting sessions going?

Thanks for asking! I'll PM you the long answer. Trying to keep it short, I love lifting. The problem is I am also doing a lot of other exercise. Too much cardio for putting on much muscle. It's hard to prioritIze one form of exercise over another now that I am finally fit enough and trim enough to try it all. With adding muscle mass you can't have your cake and eat it too - as in, you can't do a ton of lifting AND a ton of cardio and expect to make gains the way I want.

Oh ok, I was under the impression that you were wanting to focus on building muscle mass. Yeah, really have to limit the cardio to only once or twice a week and each needs to be short sessions or it will compromise muscle. That's why sometimes I'll run about 15 minutes worth of sprints instead of doing hour long cardio.

Yes, you were right. I wanted to totally focus on building muscle. My trainer told me to get in some cross training on a bike. Well, the minute I started biking I got hooked. So, my adding muscle mass priority is still there - still hoping to compete in figure in spring 2014. But over the summer I am going to lift three days per week, bike six days per week, do hot power yoga once a week, and maybe throw in a little horseback riding. All told - too much cardio! Come fall I will see if I can cut back on the cardio addiction in time to add muscle. My old version of having my cake and eating it too was about cake - and more cake! Now I want more exercise. Very weird.

That's cool! I say go for whatever gets you hooked. If so, you'll stay very motivated and not just go through the motions......you'll do great with any kind of exercise you love and look forward to. So bike your little heart out and enjoy, you'll be glad you did.....good luck!!

Yes - Without the TT I would not have a flat-ish tummy. Thanks!

You look amazing - I have never had a flat tummy and that is what I really want!

I am wondering how much did you weigh when you had the TT and at what stage (just by your stats I am guessing you are about my height). I am looking to have a TT, lift and Lipo on my bra line in July/August. I am wondering if this might be too soon....I also am curious on the practical recovery time? The reason I am asking is that I am switching jobs so this is the best time for me to have the surgery - and take the most time off.

Hey fellow sleevers, down 93lbs with 15 more lbs to go. Am 6 months out - no complications except a dodgey gallbladder that I refuse to get taken out! No hair loss, no stalls, and minimal lose skin so far.

Attached is a cheesy bikini pic that I was going to save to compare to my one year when I have abs of steel and a killer tan to match - but what the hell. I was really curious to see others post weight loss to see scaring and lose skin etc but they are really hard to find! So heres mine! Please note that this is post c-section of a 9lb baby 11 months ago!

If any are brave enough to share theirs please do - I need inspiration!

Congratulations on your success

I am 5'6". I had my TT/thigh lift at 139 lbs., it took 4lbs 6 ozs. I then lost down to my current weight - today I am 127. It's a moving target based on how sore I am from exercise!

My VSG was May 10, 2012. My TT/thigh lift was Feb 5, 2013. So, 8 months. I had a facelift Dec 31, 2012 - I weighed 145 and thought I was at goal. My surgeon had told me it wouldn't impact my results of my facelift if I continued to lose some, and it didn't. I did not expect to lose as much as I did.

For recovery time, I think 4 weeks off work is a good idea. 6 weeks would be ideal and you would feel much better. It does depend on how active your job is - for an active job you need 6. It is not the incision line that will cause pain, it's the tightening of the muscle through stitching. Ouch! Worth it, totally 100% worth it!

Great picture' date=' what did you use to hide you surgical scars?[/quote']

I used cocoa butter and bio oil night and day for 3 months ... now I can hardly see them. I'm not sure if its because of that or just lucky or good surgeon! They looked super good when I came out of hospital I almost cried! Haha.

Wow you look very good . No loose skin from what I can see . I have lost 120 lbs in the 8 months and have sagging skin around my waist .

How did you manage not to get sagging skin?

I think there is a few factors re: loose skin. Age, genetics, how long you have been overweight/obese, where you carried your weight, exercise, and rate of loss. The use of tightening lotions could prob be argued also. I'm only 26, I've yo-yo'd my whole life, I was fat all over, and I worked out with a PT from 2 months out and will continue to till I get my body fat % right down. I'm still at 34%. I also used tightening lotions day and night. Nothing special I did, just lucky I guess - and also women are designed to stretch and have babies!

I'm 26 and 5"9 or 175cm. Yes I've been doing some strength work 2x a week and cardio 2-3x week from around 2 months out. I dont consider that a lot compared to others though! When I am at goal I will prob get into some distance running :) Good luck with your surgery - I'm sure you'll do awesome!

Thanks, I will call Monday to my doc to see what's next. I've done everything so I think the next would be meet the surgeon, set date & do liquid diet. Keep us up to date! Congrats again!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
