It is PB'ing, it stands for productive Burping. When something is stuck,or is having problems passing, it causes pain, the usual way for it to unstick is for it to come back up. It is a form of vomiting, but there are no stomach acids or bile included, simply food and saliva/heavy mucus (referred to around here as slime).

Heartburn there is not any set thing that happens. some people have it prior to surgery, and following it it goes away. Others have neverhad, it and after surgery develop it....is just something you never know.

As for the liquid diet, begin your changes as soon as possible, and eliminate the carbs, and sugars, as they promote cravings for more of the same. Getting used to not having them, and carbonation, etc. will make the liquid phase easier. After you are back to a normal diet, you can add in sugars and carbsif you choose, they are not something you have to live forever without! It just simplifies the liquid phase to prepare in advance! Also begin taste testing some Protein Drinks, so you can have them on hand.

Welcome to LBT, and hope your surgery goes well!!!

Welcome RobinM

Chewing is the key to not PB...I find that if I am eating on the run or not concentrating i will PB but mostly it is not a problem as long as i am conscious of what i am doing...so PB'ing neednt be a problem if you Chew, Chew, Chew.

I have a reflux problem now and then. My dr. said that some reflux is caused by the size of your liver pressing down on everything. (Thats why the liquid diet prior to surgery, to reduce liver size). The first place to lose weight is actually the liver, and as it approaches a normal size, the pressure on the esophogus (sp?) goes away and so does the reflux. Just another benny to look forward to!!!!!! For some of us anyway, I know everyone is different,

I see the term used a lot too, and I get what it is, but my question is: Is PB'ing something that happens only in the first few weeks after surgery then goes away, or does it continue to happen and not go away?

Read that info I told you about and it will tell you ALL you want to know and then some..ha! PBing for most of us is something that stays with us. Some of us like me PB daily:huytsao , others PB once in a blue moon!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
