My surgery is coming up fast and I was curious how comfortable everyone was with sleeping in bed after the surgery. Was it hard to lay flat or di1d you use a recliner to sleep in the first week or so, would love to get feedback on this. Thanks!

I slept in my recliner for the first two weeks - I'm a side sleeper and I found laying down to be very uncomfortable. Everyone is different though...

I rolled up a comforter to prop myself up. I had to sleep propped up and on my back for the 1st week. I wasn't able to lay on my side till about day 10, until then, I felt a pulling sensation inside each time I tried to lay on my side. Was finally able to lay flat and on my side the 2nd week.

I am a side sleeper and slept that way my first night home. No problems. Hope it works for you too!

Pillows. Lots of pillows. Definitely have a pillow for the ride home. Great to hold next to your tummy and minimize the bumps in the road.

I slept in a recliner for the first week and a half. Laying down was just to uncomfortable. It was sooo nice though once i could finally sleep in bed!! You'll probably just have to try and see, since everyone is different. Good luck and i hope you can sleep in bed straight away!!!

I slept on my back with my head slightly raised and a pillow on each side under my forearms while I was at the hospital, but started sleeping on my side the second night post-op. I'm 8 days post-op now and just woke up from sleeping on my stomach this morning!

I slept on my back for atleast 4 weeks. I got terrible back pains becaise of this. What helped was putting a BIG pillow under my calves so my legs would be higher than the rest of my body. Good luck!

I didn't have any pain post-op so I slept like a new born pup. Everyone is different though. Good luck!

Second night after surgery I slept on my side. Not quite ready to sleep on my belly yet. The first night I could only sleep on my back which meant I didn't sleep much.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
