Alyjourneys 117 Posted May 17, 2013 Hi everyone. I'm so excited. I was just wondering why some surgeons don't do the pre op surgery?
Guest Posted May 17, 2013 Preop surgery or preop diet? Mine doesn't do the preop liquid diet either. Just the day before surgery. His prep is based on the Duke University method.

Guest Posted May 17, 2013 I'm guessing they all have their own way of doing things. :0) Good luck w your surgery !!
Vixynne 695 Posted May 17, 2013 I asked my NUT and she said that in my surgeon's practice, they feel that patients will be on liquids for such a long while after surgery, that there's little reason to make people go on liquids-only before surgery. Not sure about that reasoning--especially if there's any medical benefit that you can get from the pre-op diet (shrinking the liver, etc.), but that's what she said! mtchick 29 Posted May 17, 2013 I know someone who did not do the pre-OP diet. Post surgery was very difficult for them.
