msthin 4 Posted May 20, 2013 It depends on your level of deficiency... But I would say no. You can also cause some serious damage by taking too much so be careful' date=' what is the doc saying?[/quote'] I am postoperative day 6. My potassium dropped postoperative day 1. I'm taking liquid K+ twice daily. Take your medicine as ordered and follow up with your doctor regular. K+ affects the muscles, this includes your heart. I'm a Lil dehydrated its hard to drink without having severe cramps.
O.T.R. sleever 3,386 Posted May 20, 2013 Do others know if one banana a day is enough potassium? I would think so' date=' but want to hear from others on it.[/quote'] A medium banana contains about 411mg of potassium or 11% rda. My preferred source for potassium is coconut Water 16oz can = 700mg (20%rda) and like banana, it's a real food source and not a supplement.

I have been drinking vitacoco while on vacation this last week (excellent post workout) and considered ordering it from Amazon until I read the reviews. Next I checked out Nirvana Coconut water which has much better reviews on Amazon. Before committing to a product and even to a subscription, I want to make sure I am getting the best product and it is economical. I cannot order cold coconuts ( had one this week) so will settle for product as long as it is good quality and close to drinking out of an actual coconut. My only problem is that I have to order 5-6 cases a month. I think the old lady likes them more than me. http://amzn.com/B004OVWQDA

Just look at the label, the one I order is just coconut Water, but they do make some with sugar & pulp.

amytug 996 Posted May 20, 2013 I was getting those little "almost blackouts" until I started taking potassium 2 weeks ago. All gone.
Fiddleman 4,376 Posted May 21, 2013 I was getting those little "almost blackouts" until I started taking potassium 2 weeks ago. All gone. I still get these whenever standing up from a seated position. Used to it now. My take is that as long as I do not completely fade to black, I am a-ok. Wls4me 163 Posted June 18, 2013 I drink Vitamin Water Zero "Revive" flavor. It has 880mg of potassium per bottle. It's the only flavor I've found with a significant amount of potassium in it.
