1 week Post Op & Stressing Out

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! It has been a week as of today since I was sleeved and I'm struggling!! I am trying so hard to get my 64oz of Water in as well as my 65g of Protein (in shakes, since I am on a 21 day full liquids only diet). I just can't seem to do it and I'm feeling hunger pangs (or at least I think I am.) Has anyone ran into this or have any suggestions? I have a family too so watching them eat food just makes me feel sad and impotent because I know I'm not getting the fluids or nutrition I need and food looks amazing. Please HELP!!

Hi... I'm a year out so with that said the first month was very difficult for me to get my fluids in. It's nearly impossible at times. Just continue to make the effort so your energy level doesn't fall. It will take every waking moment to accomplish this and even then you will struggle. Good luck.

I woke up one morning about 10 days out and took a drink and it went right down. Don't have much longer to wait.

Do what you can to get most of it and don't sweat it, have some Water siping all times day and night and it adds to enough, eventually it will be easier to reach the full total. Your tummy is still even maybe soar and the walls were swollen leaving at first just a tiny channel this liquid passes through, this inflamation shrinks away as you heal more and more and create better room for this all as chanel opens best to a regular size it should be post surgery. Some people get it worst than others, hunger can occur extra for a while when swollen but also the anti acids help calm this all, it should be correcting itself and you'll soon feel the effects of lowered ghrelin and less hunger.

I'm 6 weeks post op and my advice to you is don't stress over it..My NUT told me to just do what I can for the first month..It's almost impossible to get it all in, just do the best you can and you will do fine..Just keep sipping regularly so as not to get dehydrated...Every day will get easier, good luck to you..

Take a deep breath and relax. You are doing fine. Remember your stomach just underwent a major surgery and is pretty swollen and is trying to heal. Great advice from the other posters above. Just remember this too shall pass and every day you will feel better and better. X

Just trying to get your liquids in is a full time job!

Have you tried Isopure? It's on the Clear Liquids and packs so much Protein. 20 oz bottle has 40 grams of Protein. Sipping on that throughout the day helps on both accounts.

Hang in there, it just gets better every week!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
