Yes, I experienced that for the first couple of months. It gets better little by little as things heal and the swelling goes down. Once you start eating, you want to make sure to take really small bites, eat very slowly, chew extremely well and don't eat too much and that will help to lessen the effect. The best thing though is time. The more time goes by, the more normal you will feel.

My nut said that if you have that feeling you have eaten too much. I have gone by that and I believe its true.

I'm 7 weeks in. I get it too if I drink too fast or have too much. Generally it's a warning to stop because your stomach is full. I envisage that the stomach gets 'backed up" and the food, drink or whatever sits in the pipe waiting to go through. Have too much or drink too fast, the result is the same. And sometimes if you get it really wrong, it all comes back and out! I think its getting better but you really have to concentrate on what you're doing. Also, standing up helps when that happens.

Do you have the feeling like something is stuck all of the time? Keep an eye on it because it could be a stricture. You start to show symptoms between 3-6 weeks generally. I have one and that was how it started for me but then it got to the point that the "stuck" feeling never went away and I could eat and drink less and less.

4 oz at 3 weeks really is a lot at one time. The average sleeve right after surgery can only hold 1-2 oz. I agree that it sounds like you are over filling your new stomach. It should take you at the very least 30 minutes to drink 4 oz and probably closer to 45. A good rule in early stages is one ounce every 10-15 minutes.

I had a stuck feeling in my throat, I told my NUT and she said that I might be "over-chewing" she said to chew small bites 5-6 times tops and I was chewing much more then that! I followed her instructions and I immediately felt better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
