MeghannKay 4 Posted May 23, 2013 I have bcbs of Mississippi. I also have a herniated disc in my neck and have sacroiliac joint disfunction - besides all of these I also have a pseudo tumor cerebri- which steals my vision. I lost it for a week two years ago then regained it after an emergency brain surgery. I permanently lost my peripheral vision. The tumor thrives on weight.. After all of this and being referred by all of my specialist drs and having them send bcbs letters, bcbs has THE NERVE to say that in my position the sleeve is merely a cosmetic surgery and they weren't paying for it. Long story short, we paid out of pocket, and we are still fighting the insurance company Hope you get approved!
Kami63 215 Posted May 23, 2013 Oh my. I am sorry to hear that. I am glad you were still able to get the surgery. Maybe soon they will come to their senses and reimburse you if not for some of it
Bellanthin 112 Posted May 26, 2013 Don't they even look at and read what is submitted??? Good luck! Apparently not
mggonzal 54 Posted June 24, 2013 I received a denial for them too... I was really depressed, gave up my diet... Then I made the better desicion... Having my surgery in. mexico with dr Aceves... I feel great without 150 lbs in 8 mo.
NoneYa 380 Posted June 24, 2013 Kami63, do you have an update? Will the Dr do both or you at the same time?
unshackled 8 Posted June 24, 2013 I am a band to revision patient. I'm in Chicago , I had band in 2008. I lost fifty pound but had complications. Bcbs said as long as the dr felt I needed it to be removed they will approve it. I had the surgery at one time. No denial and no records needed form the other hospital . I hope it works out well for you.
Kami63 215 Posted June 24, 2013 Kami63, do you have an update? Will the Dr do both or you at the same time? Yes! That is the plan anyway... I saw him and he actually said it was no problem to plan on it. So i am hoping to wake up from surgery Tuesday sleeved 3 CANTwaitTObeTHIN, Lorie269 and NoneYa reacted to this

avanma01 0 Posted June 24, 2013 Thanks bscott92863 all went well today with psych! There are two parts the interview with te Dr. And the test that was 370 questions (whew!) Dr. Told me that I passed the interview portion and he will have the results of the test on Monday. Hope I passed he test just wondering a question I'm indecisive of the sleeve and the r an y... if so many people are getting the ban removed ... in the sleeve is new why not just do the r and y... what happens if the sleeve doesn't work like the ban... since the r and y has been out longer??? I'm thinking the sleeve is the way to go for me but just nervous..

I'm thinking the sleeve is the way to go for me but just nervous.. It is simple for me. I don't want severe mal nutrition. I already have issues absorbing Vitamins.... Also it kinda freaks me out to have intestines rerouted. Lol
