How do you feel 3 months out

Recommended Posts

I am going to have my surgery in 6 weeks they are telling me. I have a cruise that is already paid for. Its the beginning of October. I am wondering if 3 months is going to be long enough for me to recover and get going with everything. I really could use some of you to chime in and tell me how it was for you after 3 months post op

Three months out all was well!

Don't buy clothes until day before you leave ;) I switch clothes sizes every few weeks it seems!

Thank you so much.... You all have set my mind at ease. I have been sitting here freaking out thinking i better call them and say never mind i will do it this fall. I really don't want to wait but i don't want to be sick and miserable on my trip. My cruise is Hawaii October 4th :-)

You will be fine by then. I was released to all foods at 6 weeks out. So you will enjoy the food also. We are cruising around the hawaian islands in sep for our 45 anniversary. Am really looking forward to it.

I am four weeks out today and feel great. I can eat anything and have never thrown up. I think the hardest part was just being tired afterwards. Not much pain. I hope you have a good time with your family on the cruise. Sounds like a lot of fun.

I am at 2.5 months and have lost 51 lbs. I can eat what I want and work out how I want. You shouldn't worry about it. Just follow the program to lessen your chances for complications.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
