hey all! i had to most of my Fluid taken out of my band today ,someone was filling in for my normal nurse that does my fills, she was browsing the pictures of my stomache and comparing that to the info given on my wieght loss thus far,. i was banded at the end of june have had before TODAY four fills all equallying up to 4.5 cc my band only holds 4 ccs so she said since i hadnt lost anymore then 35 pounds in that long length of time and that she thought my stomache didnt look *skinny* enough that it looked kinda enlarged *that scared me* i asked her if thier was a buldge or anything she could see that was sticking out. she said no but that she wanted to try and get the size of my pouch to go normal again so they took out alot of my fluid and left me a lil bit i suppose like 1 cc and I am to go back to the doctor again on dec 27th,for them to look at the pouch and see about filling it, they said once it gets smaller that then when they go to fill the band again that the band will then be positioned right to work correctly, so im guessing my band/stomache arent in synce position at the moment. *shrugs* its all alot of info! anywho here we go 13 more days of liquids-gina:faint:

My, I sure hate that for you. I can't imagine that much fill. I too have the 9.75cm inamed band that hold's 4.00cc's and I had to go last week for a unfill. I had 2.00cc's in it and they took out .4cc's and took me back to 1.60 cc's and that seems to be perfect. I was pbing daily and couldn't eat hardly any fill. Weightloss has been pretty decent until that. I had lost 60 pounds in 5 months but none in the last 3 weeks. Maybe this will help. He said it was good that I had an unfill that being too tight will cause the band to erode into your stomach. Hope your feeling better soon.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
