JessicaAnn 564 Posted May 14, 2013 Saw these little tubes at 7-11 that were 42g Protein, 0 carbs and 0 sugar. Anyone have them before? Seems like a good way to get protein in without consuming a lot.
JessicaAnn 564 Posted May 14, 2013 And 187 calories, which I know is a lot, but in the beginning I know it will be hard to get anything in.
spotg1rl 1 Posted May 14, 2013 they are not good at all and it is mostly collegen and is not beneficial as a Protein supplement, they might state 42 grams of protein but it is not If you look at the ingredients you will see that they are made primarily from collagen protein. Not only is this a significantly inferior form of protein to begin with (compared to whey or whey isolate), but -- more importantly -- they do not have the necessary amino acids to enable your body to absorb even the crappy protein that they do have very little protein and a lot of collagen. With that said I used them for the first 2 weeks and then stopped. Collagen protein does not benefit sleeve patients. We need whey protein. 1 SheWins1 reacted to this

JerseyGirl68 1,172 Posted May 14, 2013 There is a thread on here called "Not all proteins are equal" http://www.verticals...ins +are +equal, it gets into types of whey protein, ones that are a good source of protein and ones that are not. See what your NUT recommends, Mine didn't' want me taking them at all, which was fine, I didn't like the taste. Good luck!
JessicaAnn 564 Posted May 14, 2013 http://www.mynutritionworld.net/tag/protein-shot/ This one is whey Protein, but ill certainly ask my doctor and see what he thinks.
enigmachik 403 Posted May 14, 2013 I just want to add that a lot of the Protein Shots are called "new whey protein" or something similar that has "whey" in the name of it, but if you look at the ingredient list you will see that the main ingredient (other than water) is collagen Protein and that way down in the list somewhere it will list whey protein. There is VERY little actual whey protein in those shots. They add a trivial amount just so that they can call it a whey protein shot when in reality it is a collagen protein shot with a hint of whey. Always check the ingredient list because the labels are often very deceptive.
