Anyone have a hard time planning meals for your family?

I guess my issue is my husband and son are very active and don't have to worry about weight. They eat relatively healthy, but they do eat carbs(not a lot, just normal). I am having a hard time planning meals for them and grocery shopping since I really don't eat what they do. I just cannot seem to come up with ideas. Poor guys! Lol

Just wanted to see if anyone having this same challenge

Maybe you can tell them to let you know what they'd like? I'm pre-op but sometimes I'm just at a loss as to what to make for dinner & one of my guys will let me know what they'd like & it solves the problem. I eat anything & so does my husband so we don't care what they want because it's usually a baked chicken dish or "spicy" salmon as they call it! Just a thought...

I don't cook differently. Most of the time I eat what my family eats-except I skip the carbs. I will eat Protein and veggies.

I do find it hard to cook when I'm not hungry. I cook 90% of the time and I just eat a smaller portion of what I cook. I don't like Pasta, rice, and bread but they do just fine without it and I'm not opposed to them eating it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
