Two Months Out Before and Now Pics

Recommended Posts

23rn87t.jpg <p> It's really hard coming to terms with my weight loss. I only took this picture for a relative, so I decided to compare an old picture from the summer. In my head, when I look in the mirror, I see the girl in the photo on the left staring back at me. I cant find solace in any of the numbers and statistics, and not even this photo comparison makes me feel better. I am still unhappy with my body. Did anyone else have these feelings? Did they go away as you approached your goal weight?

Our heads play a mean game! Today I see a difference when I look at my newest pictures, but not as much of a difference when I look at myself. We will get there.

I had a really hard time seeing my weight loss too. When I would pick up clothes to put on I couldn't believe that they were mine. I would find myself going to the stores to buy clothes and automatically going to the plus size section. Even now, at almost two years out I still find myself putting my clothes in my oldest daughters piles because they don't seem like they could possibly fit me. It does get easier...but I think I will always have a mind set that I am a bigger girl. I am able to finally see the loss in the mirror...but when I see my shadow I still can't believe it belongs to me. It is also very hard to accept compliments about my weight loss, or how I look. I have learned just to say thank you finally...and not say things like...haha yeah right...and such. We are all a work in progress. Good luck girl....you look fabulous by the way ;)

i, too, have a hard time seeing the difference in the mirror. i guess once you've been overweight for so long, it's hard to see yourself any other way. i've gone from a size 22 down to a size 14. you and i started about the same, but you seem to be losing much faster than me. keep up the good work; hard work pays off!

You look great!! I am still waiting for a date. :( But in the past when I have lost weight here and there, I felt that way to. I think MY issue was I didn't want to get too excited because I felt like I would gain it all again, which I did but not for this reason. I just stopped working the program and got lazy! It's like in the back of my head, I was telling myself it was just temporay and I was going to screw it up again. I call it my inner fat girl voice... but as I am waiting for my date, I have told this inner fat chick to shut up and I'm gonna do this time and keep it off. I think our eyes/minds play tricks on us sometimes. But when I look at your pic I see hard work and focus. :)

I think you look wonderful but I also know how you feel. I am only 9 weeks post op and had my friend take a picture of me 46 pounds lighter and all I do is pick myself apart. I am not sure way I am doing this but I am. I am just wondering if I am going to get worse down the road. Are you seeing a therapist ? Maybe I need one.

I definitely know how you feel. Wait until the day you put on your favorite pajama pants with the elastic waistband and they literally fall off you. Or the day you see your collarbones for the first time since you were a child. Or the day you can cross your legs comfortably. Trust me, when these happen to you (and trust me, they will) you will begin to see yourself skinny in the mirror!

You look wonderful!! My surgery is a week from today, so I can't relate to this completely. But I have been overweight most of my life and this may be an issue for me too. I've been seeing a counselor for the last 5 months and it has really helped me with some of my issues. I plan to continue to see her, because my problems with food is in my head, not just my stomach. Maybe finding a good counselor would help? Hang in there - you're awesome!

You look great! I feel like I can't win...I had the sleeve on 3/6/2013 and was 224, mind you I dropped 11 lbs on that 1 week liquid diet. I am now 196.5, I cannot seem to get the scale to move fast enough. I work out and do everything I think I should do. Can anyone relate? I don't know if it is also b.c I am a revision and my body has done this before. I had the lab band for almost 6 years and dropped 130 lbs. That of course was removed and I got the sleeve. Any suggestions??

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
