nekaneek 16 Posted May 12, 2013 So I'm a little down today. And trying really hard not to get depressed. I had my surgery 4 months ago, January 8th to be specific. And for the past month my hair has been consistently falling out. I've always had a head full of hair, thick, curly nice length hair! As I washed and blow dried my hair my edges have completely thinned, my hair is not as thick and I'm seeing bald areas in spaces. I'm really regretting my surgery at this point. I wanted to lose weight and I'm noticing great results. But I don't want to see those results at the expense of my hair... I've never been a weave/wig girl, unless it was braided. I'm just fearful that I'm gonna be bald by the time this whole ordeal is over. Some one please speak some hope and positivity over me...
serenity1959 67 Posted May 12, 2013 Hon, it will grow back. It is normal to lose hair after this surgery. I have NEVER heard of someone whose hair did not grow back. In the meantime, get creative with hair accessories. Some folks have their hair grow back thicker! 2 ProudGrammy and Ms skinniness reacted to this
Not Applicable 52 Posted May 12, 2013 I feel you. We had surgery about a week apart and I am also losing hair. I have always had long, thick, curly hair. In high school they called me "curly sue." (Hence my name on this forum).... I (& others) always said my hair was my best feature, it's what I've been known for, so it's sad to see it go. And yes, I knew it would happen, just hoped it wouldn't be so bad... I guess my words aren't much of a "pick me up," sorry! I just wanted you to know you are not alone. 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this

nekaneek 16 Posted May 12, 2013 I guess my words aren't much of a "pick me up' date='" sorry! I just wanted you to know you are not alone.[/quote'] Lol! It's ok, you did give me a little chuckle though... But we are similar in that area. Everyone would always ask what I do to my hair to keep it so healthy and full. But anyway, I'm hoping it stops soon. And though I knew of the possibility of my hair coming out, it's just so drastic. But thank you! And to Serenity1959 thank you for your encouragement! I appreciate it. I'm trying not to get stuck here and look at the good instead of dwelling on my hair. Or lack there of... 3 serenity1959, Not Applicable and Ms skinniness reacted to this

And yes I take Biotin daily. I think that's part of my issue. I've done everything, I've been taking my Vitamins including biotin since before my surgery and though I have had a few moments where my Protein didn't quite make it, for the most part I get my Protein in. But I appreciate your prayers and kind words :-)!
gaye jarvis 751 Posted May 12, 2013 I was sleeved 11 months ago, and my hair fell out pretty bad till about 5 months out, and I took Biotin twice a day starting 2 weeks before my surgery. Just remember that it will grow back. I always told people that I would rather be thin and bald than fat and hairy, because I can buy some hair! MIJourney 490 Posted May 12, 2013 I have very short, fine hair anyway so I figure I'm screwed for a little while when the hair starts shedding but still think the overall outcome will be worth it:) 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted May 12, 2013 This is a frightening thing for us to go through. We are warned about the Hair loss in the beginning but when it happens, we all get freaked out. The good news is, your on the way to a healthier lifestyle with many extra benefits to come. Your hair for your finest asset and will be again bc it does grow back rather rapidly too......Gosh, my Hair growth drives me crazy because I have to die it more often because of the rapid hair growth.....And I am pretty close to my goal (personal) I've already made my Dr's goal. I love my body image and size now too..... I'm 5'6" and I weight in at 145 at the present moment.... Yep, this is fabulous so I hope you can get a smile and see how wonderful life is going to be....... 2 MIJourney and Not Applicable reacted to this
