I'm almost 7 weeks post op now, and at this point everything for me is trial and error. Some foods seem to go down fine, while others make me feel horrible. I'm sure we all go through this, but there are times when I'm really just afraid to try new things. I'm basically vomit-phobic, so when I do try new things it's rather anxiety producing. Anyone else feel this way? What are your "no go" foods so far? Here's what I've had trouble with so far...

Morningstar veggie sausage parties (tried twice)

Leftover tilapia (reheating made it too dry)

Asparagus

Eggplant

Shu Mai (steamed Japanese shrimp dumplings)

Dry fish and refried Beans. I find Morning Star Farms sausage patties are heavy too. They go down better when I keep them moist during cooking.

Last time I tried refried Beans, they hurt. That was nearly two months ago. Last week had a sesame grilled chicken salad at BJs Brewhouse. The napa cabbage sat like a brick in my stomach. I can eat coleslaw without a problem or any other raw salad. Pork is hit or miss. So is beef.

Rice is not nice. Spicy foods have forsaken me as well. Hot and sour Soup, my favorite Soup in all the world, the only one that came through for me when chemo had destroyed my taste buds, has also left town.

Steak ...hard to take, except porterhouse for some reason.

whey powder is still a staple but it does bind my elimination a bit. eggs are my friend and cheese do please.

My new love is green superfood powder that I mix with green tea extract and a bit of stevia. First thing in the morning and I sing with the birdies.

I know that it is hard, but keep trying. Most foods should be okay for the most part. I love Morningstars, and eat them pretty much every week. The only food that i ever had a problem with is eggs and that went away within a few months. Also seven weeks might be a bit soon to eat a lot of dense vegetables like eggplant and asparagus. I think over time, it will get better. Hang in there.

I have not had a lot of trouble with any particular food, but I have gagged and dry heaved after eating too fast. There are a couple things I don't like now that I loved pre-surgery- swiss cheese and bread. Don't know why.

Mainly all foods are OK for me. I have not tried bread, rice or Pasta. I dont plan on trying them either.

My only problem is grits. Major stomach pain.

I have to stay away from all things "white" - rice, Pasta, breads, potatoes. I tried a few bites of rice and that was horrible. bread, in a tiny bite, made me slime. I guess all in all- this is a good thing because I need to stay away from those foods anyway. Potatoes though, oh those things were my infinite buddy, now I have no desire and the texture is gross to me. However, now cheese is my buddy! I am scared of this because while good for Calcium and protein- it can be fattening and "clog the pipes" if you get me.

Protein Shakes, turkey, chicken (moist), fish, and crab- those are staples now.

Beef is a no go. I stick with chicken, fish, & turkey :) I use to be able to eat marinara sauce but this now makes me so nauseated!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
