I'm the newest newbie, I s'pose. 5.gif

I have been lurking on your site for a day or two, just checking things out. I've done a lot of searches for Lap Band surgery, and frankly I'm surprised this is the first time I've come across all of you.

I'm interested in getting banded, and have been ever since I first heard about the procedure. Now that I finally have a job with insurance that covers it, I'm excited that I might actually be able to do it!

You all are, without doubt, great examples of sucess, and truth. I appreciate all of your honesty, and I think this will be a great place to find REAL answers (even if they do vary sometimes).

Cheers!

Hi Mandilou---welcome to LBT.

If you are interested in being banded (and I highly recommend it to anyone who will listen!!!) this is a great site for information, and to get all the questions you have answered. Nothing is too silly---we have talked about pretty much everything and it's relationship to the band!!!

There are some awesome people here on the site, and they have boundless knowledge, and are so good at sharing. sit back, read, chat with us, and make a well informed decision!!!

Once again---welcome, we look forward to watching you begin your experience with banding!

I don't know what answers vary mean

I just meant that experiences vary and doctors' advice varies - and it's nice to see a ton of potential answers/solutions being discussed.

I'm a big advocate of information - so knowing EVERYTHING I can to make the best choice for me is a big deal. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome, all!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
