ontoanewlife 15 Posted May 11, 2013 Hi Everyone... I'm so excited to be "on to a new life"!!! I'm 4 days post-op and trying to determine a general idea of what kind of weight loss to expect. I've read through a lot of threads and feel confused about it. I'm interested in finding out: 1. the date of your surgery. 2. what was your weight the day you went in for surgery? 3. what do you weigh now? 4. your activity level (low, medium, high). Any information would be greatly appreciated....
******** 397 Posted May 11, 2013 I'm still presurgery but bmi makes a difference so ask them to either include that or include their height. I weigh 268 and am 5'9" but I assure you I will probably lose weight slower than someone who is 268 and 5'1"

RareGold3000 185 Posted May 11, 2013 Highest weight was 249 lbs My height is 5'5" Weight on surgery day was 236 lbs Surgery was on 8-21-12 (so another 1 1/2 weeks I'll be 9 months out) Today I weigh 167 lbs (weight loss slowed down ALOT after 6 months for me) My personal 'goal' weight is 132 lbs. At 6 1/2 months out I started back at the gym 5 days a week 50 min cardio each day and 3 days a week I add 20 min strength training. I have a labral tear in my hip so it prevented me from being at the gym earlier on, with injections it's now kept the pain at bay. But, even at the gym the past 8 weeks rigorously, the weight loss has still been slow. My total caloric intake is between 700-900 calories a day on gym days and that's with subtracting what I burn off with cardio. On non gym days it's typically around 1000-1200 calories those days total. My surgeon said to expect to lose 60-70 percent of the excess body weight....although I'm hoping to lose all of it, we shall see. And, as everyone here always says.....'don't compare your weight loss to everyone else, we all lose at our own rate, we all hit stalls for weeks and weeks on end, it will come off". It will be a commitment to keep it off, some think once they lose they will never regain, ummm not true, you can regain, so keep track and God speed!! mandyrenee82 59 Posted May 12, 2013 My weight my first consultation was 291. I'm 5'10". My surgery was 4/16/13. Weight day of surgery was 284 and day i was released i was at 280. I went for a follow up this past Monday and I weigh 239. My exercise is pretty minimal right now due to a gout flare up that doesn't want to leave me alone. So I lost 41 pounds, somehow, in less than 3 weeks. Haven't weighed myself since though. 1 ontoanewlife reacted to this

mikeross 216 Posted May 12, 2013 My info is in my signature. I consider myself a medium activity level. Everyone if different in the way they lose their weight. Some people lose quickly some very slowly. The only thing we all share is the ability to lose all our excess weight. It takes time and hard work but everyone here can get to their goal weight. You need to find healthy foods that you enjoy eating; you need to find an exercise activity that you enjoy doing. 1 Fiddleman reacted to this
