my surgury is on Tuesday, May 14th! I can't believe it's so soon. I was scheduled to have it done April 24th but I wound up getting bronchitis the day before...what are the odds of that...but I think things happen for a reason and I'm even more ready then I was at my previous date! I'm not that nervous (as of now) for the procedure. My main fear is the Hair loss that comes along in a few months but the positive words of people do help me out. I figured if worse came to worse I might cut my hair off and try to resemble my girl Miley Cyrus. I hope I'm one of the people that doesn't loose much so I don't have to go to that extent. I also feel like I'm not prepared for the Protein I should drink after. I have a bottle of Isopure in my fridge but that's about it. I have Special K shakes and such but I'm not sure if that's something I could even drink after or if its going to be good for me. I guess the nutritionist I will see in the hospital will help me out even more then our last conversation. I got weighed at pre-opp and I'm actually down another 5 pounds which is awesome, so overall I lost about 30 pounds throughout this pre surgery prep. The only thing that sucks is I really haven't noticed any difference in the way I look until I tried on this necklace I used to wear a lot. I haven't worn it in maybe a year and I just tried in on yesterday. It hung so loose compared to how it used to and it made me so excited for when this starts happening with my clothes! If anyone has any advice on hair or protein or just any kind positive words I'm always happy to read them!!!!!! (-:

Hey... I got sleeved April 30th.... So I'm 12 days post and I feel like normal... Some pain in my side but it comes an goes no big deal... I don't have any Hair loss hopefully won't happen... But for me after it was hard for to get my liquids and protein... The 3 rd day I was cleared for puréed foods... But I was not even hungry... But I suggest Isopure because it counts for both Protein and liquids which is great because before that I felt like all I did was drink I still don't get all my liquids but in trying... Isopure is expensive and it does take a little but to get used to the taste but the bottles I get are 40 grams of protein and 20 ounces of liquid... Hope tho helps :)

Good luck to you. The Hair loss thing, there is nothing you can do unfortunately. If it's going to happen nothing will help it. Mine started falling out around 3 months postop and is still going. Surprisingly I still have hair. However I did cut it to chin length down from boob length. Seemed like the shorter it was. The less it would like was falling out.

My 3 month labs came back absolutely perfect and mine is still falling out. Not trying to be a jerk I'm just being honest.

As far as the shakes go try to find one that high Protein low carb. Odds are the special k one has a lot of sugar and carbs. Isopure is good. There are also ones like muscle milk light or premiere Protein Shake that have a decent amount of protein and low carbs/sugar.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
