Well, the thing I dreaded and hoped wouldn't happen to me, did happen. My hair is falling out.

I have taken Biotin since before surgery, and have always gotten in all my Protein, all my Vitamins, and am eating around 800-1000 calories a day. I have been using Nioxin products since the third month post-op. I think I had may bases covered. But at about 3 1/2 months my hair started falling out so fast I can't believe it. When I'm drying it, it just comes out and fills the sink and flies all over the bathroom. It wasn't very thick to start with, but at the rate it's coming out, I can see my scalp, and I'm quickly losing the ability to hide it. It's just so discouraging and frightening.

So yesterday I went to see a dermatologist. They gave me about 10 injections in my scalp (some type of cortisone) that is supposed to generate some Hair growth quicker, and also a topical solution to put on at bedtime that is supposed to stop it from coming out. I also got some Bosley fibers to hide it until it grows back. Don't know if any of that will work, but I figure it was worth a try. They said that it does work, so I'm hopeful. I feel better about than I have in a while. Just wondered if anyone else has tried any of this?

I haven't been sleeved yet. I was wondering though, how your Bosley fibers worked out? Would you buy and use them again?

The fibers really made a big difference. Very easy to use, and take that shine off your scalp! It does give the illusion of more hair. It made me feel a lot better about the whole thing - so I would buy them again.

my sleeve was Jan 9-13 and my hair really started falling out two weeks ago especially in the front. It is discouraging but I'm still glad I was sleeved. I heard it stops and then the hair comes back. Does anyone know?

I had Hair loss at about 3 months but I think eating lots of Protein, taking Vitamins, and nioxin has helped it grow at the same rate it's falling out. Now I'm 6 months out and my shedding is normal. I have a client who had the lapband and her thick hair got really thin. It took about a year but its thick as ever now.

I got them from my hairdresser. He/she can pick them up for you at the supply house if they don't have them at the shop. I also really like the Shampoo, conditioner, and scalp treatment.

I thought I'd dig this post out and update it, just in case anyone is interested. My Hair loss has really slowed down, and is coming out at about the same rate as it was before surgery. I can't really see any new growth yet, but my hairdresser says she can see some. The doc said it should take about 6 weeks. I do think the treatment did make a difference, as opposed to being coincidental. I just hope it returns to it's previous state!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
