So I know I am going to be told that this is normal but I just need some suggestions on how to get past this! I had my surgery April 11th. I lost 25 pounds the first 2 weeks (starting weight was 248) and then nothing since! I have actually gained 1 pound. The only difference is I am able to add in some meats....fish, tuna, canned chicken, etc... I have no idea what to do to get the weight loss started agin. Thinking about going back to all liquids for awhile to see if that helps. I didn't have this surgery to lose 25 pounds and then stop. I know that wont be the case but I really thought the weight loss wouldn't have stopped so soon. Any suggestions welcome!!!

I read on this site that a stall after the first few weeks is normal with sleeve patients. Keep doing what you are doing, increase your exercise and you will do great! Good luck.

Chin up and congratulations on your loss! Your body starts to clue in that it is getting a whole lot less fuel that it has in the past. It does everything possible to hold on to that fuel (fat) for as long as possible. This slows down the weight loss and is known as a stall. Stalls happen....It is our bodies way of getting back at us for robbing it of all that juicy goodness it was getting before we decided to take charge. Couple things you can try, but realistically everybody reacts differently. You can try more Protein and less carbs, more Water and more exercise. The real key is to make sure you are eating nutritionally balanced food. I wouldn't suggest going back to liquids, but I would suggest you get your calories in as much as possible. Depending on what your nutritionist recommends, you should be somewhere around 800 or so Kcals as day. Make sure you are getting that in. it can be hard, it is something that I struggle with at almost 6 months, but it is what will get you back on track. Hang in there, it will happen.

Make sure you are eating enough. Not getting enough Protein, fluids and even calories can slow weight loss just as easily as overeating. Please don't be discouraged. We all go through these little spurts while our bodies adjust to the changes. Something I did to keep motivated is I would try on clothes that were a little tight fitting. Even though the scale didn't say that I was losing, my clothes would fit looser! Hang in there!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
