A theory about stalls...

Recommended Posts

I have a theory about stalls. I have no idea if this can be scientifically proven or not but it makes sense to me. When I was on my way up to the weight that ultimately got me to consider the sleeve, it wasn't a steady climb. I remember getting to a weight and staying there for a long time, a year or two. I remember being at the 215-217 weight for a significant period of time. I also remember when I was at the 201-203 weight. I even remember the clothes I was able to wear while at that weight. So, it seemed to make sense to me when I stalled at 216. Once I got past that and started to decline again, I figured that I would stall out again at the 202ish weight. Sure enough, that is where I am now. I figure I'll be at this weight for a while and then will start to lose again. The next stall should be at the 187-189ish weight. Anywho, just some rambling thoughts.

Your theory seems pretty valid. If my weight declines steadily and then I stall in about 3 weeks to a month, I'll let you know!

I sure do hope you are right! I have been stalled for several weeks and just can't seem to budge the scale no matter what I do. I am exercising at the gym 5 days a week and have lost 10 pounds of body fat in 2 months but no weight. At least I'm not gaining! Have worried that my pouch has stretched but I do still feel the restriction. I am able to eat more than I expected before I feel the restriction.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
