Hi

My surgeon didnt allow me to eat bread only after 3-4months from the op. N meat like stake as well....

I feel i can eat bread (6weeks done op)

Am not sure if he adviced that to lose weight faster or cause it will upset my sleeve

Any one tried to have bread or stake..? N what thy adviced you

I have eaten steak many times. He probably does not want you eating bread because it will take up room in your pouch that is meant for Protein. Bread could also expand in your stomach and may cause discomfort this early on.

Sleeved 12/17 & I was stuck on a rd trip Thursday & all there was around was a subway...so I got a ham & turkey sub & ate about 4-5 bites then was full! I had no problems! I actually ate a few more bites a few hrs later & was fine! I wouldn't make a habit of it though...like they ^^^ said....I was full with just that little & that wasn't much protein!

I agree. Since our stomachs are so much smaller, it's more important what you put in your body, Protein fills you up longer and gives you more energy. I haven't tried bread at all and just a bite of hamburger, White meats I find don't upset my stomach. Tried thin sliced deli turkey and chicken with no problem, but the roast beef upset my stomach. Haven't tried steak yet.

I pretty much eat what I need to eat without a lot of problems. I don't eat breads, rice or pastas simply because the white processed foods are really not good for me health wise. I tend to eat red met only about 1 time a week but have had a good steak and it is fine. It is a pretty dense Protein, so most likely that's why your Dr. said no. As you get further out from surgery, you should be able to add both back in, but I would do what you can, to follow the plan. It does make your recover easier and makes allow the weight you want to lose come off a bit sooner.

I've been advised no rice, bread or Pasta for 6 months...and I'm sticking to it. I lead with Protein and usually get full off that. The few times that I've been served a sandwich (at business meetings, etc), I just remove the bread and eat the deli meat and cheese. Easy peazy. And very satisfying.

If you trust and respect your surgeon, I suggest that you follow his advice. He has more knowledge experience than we do, and I am sure wants you to succeed at this. I am almost 1 year out and still have a tough time with bread and steak. Your new little stomach is not fully healed. Why push your luck. Also this is your prime and easiest weight loss period. I know its hard to resist, but you can do it. Whatever you decide. I hope you continue to do well.

bread is a waste of valuable space that my body needs for Protein and nutrients. Bread is pretty much empty calories, and like Pasta, can expand in your stomach and cause discomfort. I was eating steak from a couple of months out though even one year out I can not manage more than about 75 grams.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
