How's my may 1st sleevers doing?

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on the 2nd. Still sore' date=' mostly on the left side, and can't sleep comfortably at night. I'm a side sleeper, and I'm nowhere close to ready to roll over.

Other than that, doing well, still hard to bend over, but getting better.

My diet has been pretty good. Here's what I have in a typical day:

Breakfast/morning -

1 scrambled egg with half american cheese single slice - 10g Protein

1 chocolate Premier Protein shake - 30g Protein (takes about an hr to get the whole shake down)

lunch -

some homemade veggie Soup I made and pureed. I used MFP to calculate, it's 6g protein per serving

either cottage cheese or yogurt, depending on which I feel like. 10g-16g protein

dinner -

same as dinner - or eggs. I'm having a hard time knowing what to have for dinner. I'm not ready for meat yet, but I want to try pureed chicken salad or deli lunch meat soon. usually around 10g protein

then I have another premier shake in the evening - 30g protein.

So I'm between 90-100g protein a day, and my calories are around 800. I feel great and I haven't been hungry since before surgery! :)[/quote']

When did you move to soft foods?

Sounds good great job. I start soft on Wednesday and I made a crockpot of chili with ground turkey

Tried soft food for the first time today and vomited. Was just an egg but upset my stomach. Other foods like Jello broth etc have been ok. I was done on May 1st so I thought I wasn't moving too fast. Help I would like to move towards some regular food!

I am feeling good. Ive lost 10 poubds from my pre-op weight plus the 8 or so i gained during surgery. I'm back at work (ER nurse) and haven't had any problems except today I was a little queasy at work early in the day. I transition to "puréed" foods tomorrow, so I cheated and started tonight with an little bit of taco meat and refrained Beans. I couldn't eat much, and even spit a little out after chewing it forever. I was burpy afterwards but an hour later felt good enough for a few more sips of Water. My meals have been primarily Protein Shakes (Premier), and I don't mind them at all. I've thrown in a little Tomato Soup, pudding and Jello but overall I'm just not a fan of those things or any other "full liquid". So tomorrow I will start experimenting and see what happens.

I started at 325 before 9 day liquid diet I lost 7 lbs then had surgery may 1st and in two weeks lost 18lbs. I feel great. I just started on puréed and the first I ate was tuna fish I had 3 bites then felt sick but the next day I was able to eat cottage cheese and in the evening a scrambled egg. I have to eat slow and stop as soon as I'm full. Which is usually a couple bites.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
