jacquelynn.mclean 103 Posted May 10, 2013 In looking for a gym and thinking about working out, I've been thinking about joining Curves. Outside of the issue of their hours and the lack of showers at their facilities...does anyone use them? hate them? love them?
buccoki 7 Posted May 10, 2013 I joined Curves about a month ago. I was about 7 weeks post op. I work full time and my husband is out of town for work all week long so the only time I have without the kids is at lunch time. I pop over there at my lunch breaks and it only takes me about 45 minutes for dressing stretching and driving along with the workout. I love it. I am not ready to go hang out with the skinny girls and body builders and wait for the machines and try to 'Wing it'. Curves always has a girl there to help you on the machines so you get a good workout and don't injure yourself. My nutritionist told me that Curves was perfect for WLS because it works all of the muscle groups and that will tell your body..."HEY I STILL NEED THOSE MUSCLES SO DON'T USE THEM FOR ENERGY". "GO PICK ON FAT, WE'RE NOT USING THAT" Go for it!!! you won't be sorry.
Pixie Dust 526 Posted May 11, 2013 Years ago, I suffered from Depression. I know what it was caused from, the death of my Mom...but my GYN "made" me join Curves (as well as prescribed anti depressants & for me to go to counseling). It all worked & I was fine within months BUT the best thing that came out of that was the experience at Curves! I **LOVED** it! It's FUN! That's the best way I can describe it! You get a good work out & there are larger ladies there that don't feel comfy going to a regular gym yet, but there are slim people there too, just trying to get themselves a nice workout. I loved going early in the morning, not too many people or I'd go 45 mins before closing. I had to stop when I injured my knee on vacation but I hope one day to return! I see now on their door it says "Rumba" so they must have incorporated dancing with their workouts too, right? Isn't that a sort of exercise/dance? What I just remembered is that sometimes they let you try it out for a week to see if it's for you! Call them to ask about that!
