Anxiety

Question...

I have almost all my Christmas shopping done.

My house has been cleaned, you know in all those little spots you want done before people come over.

I have my menu and grocery list made out for Christmas.

My decorations inside and out are done.

Ive worked my butt off to be ready this year, and I'm still starting to feel the anxiety creeping up. I need tips to help me squash these feelings, I just want to relax and enjoy these holidays. Aside from alcohol (which I may resort too), any ideas out there??

:help: Booze, tranquillizers, antidepressants, and I have my psychologist's phone number on speed dial. And if all else fails,...go for a walk.:)

I always feel stressed at Christmas too. This year I have taken up knitting again, and have passed a stress free evening just knitting and listening to the TV.

Ha, Ha, Yeah, I started scrapbooking this year as a new hobbie, ya know TO RELAX. Now it has become another obsession. I'm working on a book right now that has a Christmas theme and I'm obessed with getting it done before Christmas. It's pointless, I'm hopelessly nuerotic!! lol I think I have to concentrate on the alcohol and drugs solution....lol:wacko: lol.

:cry Ever since I got sick with this depression over 3 years ago my way of dealing with stress and anxiety has been by spending hours and hours on the computer. I get nothing done around the house and it drives my husband nuts. :help: At least it stops me from eating, eh.:clap2:

Come to think of it, my knitting has become an obsession. I have started two sweaters in size 12 for whenever I get there and just finished a pair of socks last night. When I stopped knitting the day before, I got into some chocolate truffles. (I'm supposed to be on mushies still). I am just now realizing how deeply I bury my anxieties, and how they affect everything in my life. It all seems to come to a head at this time of year.

I'm obsessed with crafts - doesn't matter whether its ceramics, knitting (latest craze is cross stitch and it takes FOREVER) but they seem to keep my hands occupied and away from food - oh the baking experience this Christmas has been outstanding. I've actually managed to brainwash myself when I bake NOT to taste test - and I baked alot of Cookies, squares, breads etc. I was not tempted and some of them are my favorites. I'm hoping I haven't buried it deep - but I have stayed away from chips - something tells me once I get started I won't be able to stop so they are off limits in the house. The kids and husband eat them at school or work but they can't come in the house. Sigh... has to be something.

Have a great Christmas and I hope you find something to change your cravings.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
