What about juicing? You can juice all those veggies you have been missing and get all the nutrients without the bulk?

The hardest thing about giving advice in these forums is that we are all so different and our recovery is also very different. I am almost a week out and I am sitting here in my hotel room, not long after a room service meal which I thought was carefully ordered. There was a genourous serving of steamed veges which I welcomed and enjoyed - only to then go and 'lose' not long after.

We are all different, and sometimes it is simply a matter of trial and error as to what our sleeves can handle. I am smacking myself now as I know that I can do steamed veges yet, and yet I keep trying!

So, for me, I advise try and find your own edge. Find what your sleeve can accommodate and do not for a moment be concerned that I can't handle steamed veges as you may handle them well and do not be concerned that someone else can go salad crazy and yet you can't, because we all have to find the edges of our new reality.

One year on and I still find myself with my head down the toilet. But I wouldn't change a thing :-)

At the beginning it says you are a week out and at the end it says you are a year out...I'm confused. I think you meant to say a year, though?

Oops! Yes, I am almost a year out. A typo, sorry for the confusion.

Ugh! That's a bummer that you can't eat veggies a year out. :(

Just raw or partially cooked veges. If they are well cooked I can eat them.

Had my first entree salad today. Have you tried soft lettuces? I can eat butter lettuce and red leaf lettuce without issue.

Lettuce is still a definite no for me. My sleeve just rejects it.

I would die if I couldn't have lettuce- it's a daily veggie for me. I love my greens!

How about Indian curries like palak paneer, which is made with spinach and Indian cheese. It is really nice and has a LOT of spinach.

Honestly, I do not eat a lot of raw veggies at almost a year post op and probably should get better at it. My favorite veggies I do eat are kale, spinach, regulars salads and broccoli. Usually i only get a single serving of veggies in at my "dinner" meal. I do, however, drink a serving of green vibrance "green drink" every morning. It has so many different vegetables, fruits, herbs and Probiotics (for healthy digestion). Have you considered a green drink supplement to fill in the missing gaps? I find it much easier and less expensive then trying to source all this stuff from actual vegetables, fruits and herbs. Tonic alchemy is another "green drink" I like, but it has been surprisingly hard to find in the last month or two. I do not think I could maintain healthy nutrient levels without the green drink because I am not eating the RDA recommended amounts in real fruits and vegetables. I will be checking Vitamin based blood work soon. I have great energy levels every day and sleep well.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
