Hi guys. I was sleeved on May 6 and have had a very smooth recovery so far. I'm having trouble getting my Protein in (I cannot stomach the isopure), but I've been drinking Water and Vitamin water and G2 Gatorade. Anyway, it's recommended that I drink 3-4 oz every hour. I woke up and drank about 20 oz of G2. My question is: Is drinking more than 3-4 oz/hr harmful? Will it stretch my stomach?

I don't necessarily know that it will stretch your stomach, but you are still swollen, with a brand new staple line and healing. Having too much, too soon may make you uncomfortable and give you some pain. How long did it take to drink the 20oz?

A little over an hour. My stomach is fine, and I certainly didn't chug it. I just took frequent sips. I guess I'll just be glad I can get it down. Thanks for your response!

I am with you on this. I was always a big Water drinker before surgery. Early in the morning I find that I can do almost the same thing. As the day moves on, and I have more substance (shakes) in me, the amount I can consume lessons.

I too cannot stand the Isopure but, I know a lot of people who can. In fact my hubby got this giant tub because he likes it and he thought I would drink it too. Well, it was not to my liking :D

I got samples from unjury (their chicken Soup is AMAZING) and Syntrax's nectar (VitaminShoppe). Try the samples before you buy it will save you on buying something you hate. I know that a lot of people on here buy the Costco/Sam's Club brand but that was waaaaay too sweet and thick for me.

Also,

It's great you aren't having issues getting in your fluids! I know initially I was able to drink more Vitamin Water Zero than Water. It just went down much easier.

Congrats on your surgery!!

That is wonderful that you are getting in all your liquids! I also could not drink the Protein Drinks I use to love, instead I went to Unjury.com and purchased their chicken broth which is wonderful and the strawberry sorbet. Big difference and I also had to just add a little bit more Water than the directions said. Ensure has Protein water bottles, it has 9gr per10 oz bottle. I know my problem drinking Protein Shakes were they were just too think/heavy no matter how watery I made it. So these came in handy until I received my Unjury order. Good luck

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
