I Have Some Questions

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

Okay, here goes. I was banded in October and have steadily lost about 30 pounds.

I got my first fill on November 20th and after three weeks, only lost about three pounds. They put in 1.2 cc in my 4 cc band. Yesterday, I called and told them it wasn't tight enough, because I could eat like a horse and didn't feel much restrictions, so they put in .6 cc in my band taking me to 1.8. Today, I feel great! But, I don't want to over-do.

1) How much should I eat? 1/4 to 3/4 cup of food?

2) What about alcohol?

3) Is it really THAT important to do low-carb? I think I am a carb addict.

4) Everyone mentions the food sitting in your pouch, but I swear, I can feel the food moving through the band as I eat. Does some seep through naturally while you are eating?

Thanks and have a great one!!

I am not sure about the amount. My rule is to eat until I am no longer hungry instead of eating until I am full. The alcohol and carb question would be up to you and how quickly you want to loose. I haven't had alcohol yet because they are empty calaries (Although I plan on having a shot of tequilla to Celebrate Onederland shortly I hope :)) I had stayed with a low carb diet. I think it has helped me to loose faster than average. Partly because I am impatient and wanted faster results. :) There are those who eat carbs in moderation. They may loose a little slower, but are still every bit as successful. Hope that helps. Your doing great!

I agree with the carbs and alcohol, they are just empty, wasted calories. I try to eat until not hungry but I try to eat fairly slow to give my brain time to know I'm full. I can feel too what seems to feel like my food going through my stoma but make sure your not drinking with your meals. I had a hard time with that one. Very hard time.

1. I can eat about 3/4 of a cup I've noticed

2. I don't drink, empty calories

3. Yes... the rule of thumb I've heard is to eat your Protein first then enjoy your carbs! I notice that I am almost full off the Protein but I still get 2 or 3 bites of the yummy carbs.

4. I wonder that too... even when I had a 2cc fill I could feel the food go straight through..

I could feel the food going thru too and I got a tighter fill my doctor told me if you feel it going thru when you are eating you are too loose still I don't know it would seem logical if food is going thru when your eating its not sitting in the pouch i don't know really still learning

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
