It wasn't as painful as I imagined. I've been struggling with weight issues since I was four. She didn't tell my anything new. She recommend I start eating like I would after surgery. And taking Vitamins. Yay food log! Already have been for years with WW. I'm ready for this journey!

I can remember my first nutrition appt and in the blink of an eye I completed my last 'required' one yesterday. I plan on continuing to see mine, however, because I adore her! She's uplifting and supportive and I feel like if I keep seeing her I might have a fighting chance at this to be successful.

Glad your first appt went well! Best of luck with your journey!

Thank you! I have state insurance that requires 6 visits but I heard that they accept 4. I'm hoping I could do they, but I'm OK if I have to do 6. How has your journey been?

I been seeing my NUT since 2/26/13 every 2 weeks ... I was 296 when I started and I'm down to 263 as of yesterday when I saw my surgeon and he's okay with my surgery now ... He wanted my BMI down since I'm only 5" and I wouldn't have done with out her ... :) after my surgery I'm going to continue to see her ... I need the accountability if not I slack and start gaining it all back :(

Good for you. It was just a broken record for me. I've seen nutritionists many times. But whatever it takes I'm ready for! I hope this goes fast.

Mine requires 3 visits, and they don't have to be a month apart....with how we've timed them, I'll be done July 1st with NUT visits.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
