Hey all - my surgery is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, May 14th. Everything has been great, doing really good on my pre-op diet, but all the sudden I'm starting to freak out! Part of me is thinking "don't do it"! but the other part of me is thinking, "you have been working for 8 months to get to this day, stop your whining"!

has anyone else gotten cold feet before surgery or had 2nd thoughts? I'm going to go through with everything I just wish I could find some calmness in these last few days!!

oh yeah.... if I thought i had a prayer of losing weight any other way I would have backed out. Now, 150# plus lighter... quite literally half my former size - I am so glad I didn't back out!

It is normal and healthy to feel some anxiety and I will tell you, the road ahead won't always be easy... but talking from the otherside, it is so worth it!

I think one just needs to look at CowgirlJane and any doubts will melt away!

Having second thoughts is perfectly normal. I'm sure everyone has them. I know I sure did.

Good luck to you, You will Love your sleeve! 9 weeks out for me and 30 pounds lighter. I am loving my sleeve and life!

I had surgery on April 29th. I can't count the number of times I got cold feet in the days just prior to surgery.

Hang in there.....your apprehension is perfectly normal.

I think if you don't have a few doubts and a little bit of cold feet, you're extremely unusual. This is a major surgery, there are some dangers involved, and it will change your life forever, regardless of how successful it is. It's a very human response to have some "What am I DOING?" moments. I posted yesterday that I was having my fair share of second thoughts now that I'm approved. I get to have a little over two more months to freak out about it periodically. But when I think it through, I know this is the right thing for me to do. We'll get through this. That's what we do here :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
