One of my oldest and bestest friends just stopped by. She's been MIA since I had surgery because she was diagnosed with strep the day after I had surgery and she didn't want to get me sick.

Today, she made up for her absence (not that she had to, by any means) BY BRINGING ME SOME chicken broth FROM PANERA!

I never thought of going to a restaurant and asking for broth. This genius friend of mine just made my whole day. This is divine!!! :)

had to share... ;)

Great friend! Great idea, too. I have been with my hubby out a few times, and I just tell the waitress that I had surgery and can't eat. I can usually eat a little off my hubby's plate, but one place did not really have anything I could eat. Well, it was Culver's, and they had fish, but to order just one piece of fish was ridiculously expensive. So I drank Water and watched my hubby eat. But asking for broth or something like that is a great idea.

This friend of mine is always so thoughtful. I talked to her on the phone when I was still in the hospital, the day after surgery. I was still pretty loopy, and I remember telling her about my upper GI that morning and how my stomach looked like "a little worm"

Well, that night she and her 4 year old daughter made a little sculpture of a worm for me out of clay. It's psychedelic colored and glittery... She brought that over to me as well! I love that woman - everyone should have a friend like her! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
