Does anyone work out at work?

Recommended Posts

I'm beginning to think I'd be more likely to finish a good workout if I did it while still in my office after work, instead of going home and getting comfy. Any thoughts? 4 weeks out -28lbs

My work has a gym, but over crowded, so on my breaks I go for walks outside. I think it is a lot easier working out after work because like you said, once you're comfy, you don't wanna.

My work has a small gym but hardly anyone uses it. I use it on my lunch break. We get an hour and I only need about half that, so I get on the treadmill when I want to. But my office building is right next to a hotel with really nice grounds, so as the weather improves, I'll take my walks outside.

I don't do anything but treadmill there and I have a gym membership for more intense workouts. I think for me it's just a privacy thing - everyone walks by the gym on the way out, and I just don't like being "on display" like that!

I was thinking about closing my office door and working out in there, like cardio DVDs and such. My work also has a small gym but no one uses it and everyone walking by can see everything.

I think I'll try it tomorrow. See how that goes!

Yes, I work out at work everytime I am there. I have 5lb dumbells that I lift while I sit at the computer (in between calls) & I also have something similar to a "Thigh Master" that I use on alternate days. I wear 5lb ankle weights all day on my "leg days" & also walk on my breaks. Whew...yeah, that's what I do. I decided about 4wks ago that I'm tired of sitting all day at work & not getting anything out of it.

I work at a bakery so I can't exactly do anything at work and I'm on my feet all day anyway. But my sister has an office job and she uses her work gym sometimes but she prefers to go to the park across the road from her work on her lunch break or after work and do a boot camp style circuit workout.

I think it's a good idea to go before or at work because afterwards you just want to relax.

If you have some workouts on DVD that might be a good idea but people might think your a bit strange if they walk into your office and your doing Zumba or something haha

Lol yeah this is true. I will definitely shut my office door, maybe lock it too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
