I KNOW I NEED TO CLEAN OUT MY CLOSET BUT

Recommended Posts

I save mine. I have the space in my attic. I save the clothes I love and give away the ones I wouldn't wear again no matter my size. I keep them bc I never know where life will take me.

I have had many affairs with weight loss only to gain it back, so for me saving the clothes takes some of the pressure off. But I don't clutter my closet of cute smaller clothes with them.

Well Remember what Cortez did when he landed in the New World. He burned the boats that brought him. No Turning Back.

@ BlessedBeyondMeasure2012 I love your quote. My son name is Jeremiah and I have that scripture on his wall above his bed :)

“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future" Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Two weeks ago I pulled all the really fat clothes in a trash bag, Then I took more than half of the regular fat clothes and did the same. I dropped the bags off at a local women's shelter and went back home to discover I really have nothing to wear. At least my shoes still fit.

And let me tell ya - it felt so good to get rid of the fat clothes I can hardly contain my excitement. It was a very happy day.

I'm on board with that! I have hit such a road block with that! I have such a hideous pile of way to big "fat Laura" clothes in the upstairs landing, that it has become like a permanent fixture :(

SOMEONE MAKE ME THROW THEM AWAY!

THROW THEM AWAY!!! (or donate)

DO IT! (both of you)

Purge! I just do it a little at a time. Right now I have a big pile that fell over in my bedroom, but I've taken four trips to the Goodwill and I'm getting down to nothing much but the few things I've bought to get me through. And I'm good with it :) I pray I never gain that weight back, but if I do, I still don't want to wear dated clothes - even if I am fat!

I am struggling with this too. I am only a week out from surgery, but lost a fair amount pre-op. Reading all of the responses has helped me too!

I wonder if I were to designate a certain dollar amount to go into a separate apparel fund, if that would help. In a year, I could have XX dollars, and if I *had* to, I could buy larger clothes. Of course, I won't have to, and will have come to trust my weight loss by then, so a big "small clothes" shopping spree would lay ahead!

Besides, regardless of what size we are, we will NOT be naked. Stores will always sell plus sized clothing. And there are the thrift stores and consignment shops too.

Thanks everyone! I know I need to believe in myself and in the choice I made. I'm going to get rid of them no matter how uncomfortable it makes me feel right now. I'm only keeping a pair of jeans I wore daily when I started my journey. I'm making Saturday my purge day!

If anyone can sew, cut them up and make patch quilts out of them. Give them as gifts to someone you care about. I have alot of tshirts with different logos and made two and gave it to my daughters.

Walked past my pile today...

Do something good with them Laura. Give them to a local women's shelter. Some of those women go there with nothing, including no clothes. The shelter will give them something to wear. I try to do that, it makes me feel better than to just give the to Salvation Army. It will make you feel good like you are helping in some way and it will also allow you to move on in your own life.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
