hi audree! do you have a plan for how often you are going to weigh yourself? i'm so anxious to see how awesome you do! it's reassuring to see you doing so great... especially as i'm getting so close to my banding date! it seems like a lot of people are really excited for you! :clap2:

Thanks!!! I weighed myself on Saturday morning. I also started solids Saturday so I think I won't weigh until Friday. I have heard you can gain a few back after starting solids but then lose them, so I will wait. I think I will weigh in on Fridays. I really don't want to start the scale game that I have always played. Then if I didn't like what it said, it would mess up my day. I know it is different now, since I can only lose, but I want to start on the right foot with good habits.

Hi everyone, just checking in.

I had Lasik eye surgery this weekend, which everyone says is a breeze. I can honestly say I had more stress and nervousness with having my eyes cut than flying solo to Mexico for lapband surgery. I also had way more discomfort with the eye surgery and everyone says that it is a breeze. I have no pain now, 36 hours post op, but the first morning was a bit rough for me.

I can honestly say I would much rather do the lapband again than the eye surgery. But I can say I can see clear as a bell now, which is worth it.

I had lasek eye surgery last year. The first two weeks were rough, I felt like a vampire because I could not tolerate any light. But, now that I am recovered, I can't really remember ever wearing glasses. Anyway, good luck with your recovery. I see things now that I could never see before. The sclera of my eyes is super white, now I realize the contacts were really just irritating my eyes.

That is good to know Serious. I know that contacts are pretty bad for your eyes, as 80% of the O2 to your eyes comes from the external air.

It was definitely more intense than I anticipated, but I am good now so far. Looking forward to super white scleras!

Being at goal is actually very new to me,I've only been at goal a few days,but I've already learned,as I got closer to my goal weight that being here at goal is no easier than trying to lose the weight.I still struggle to keep myself from eating certain things and I still have cravings for things I shouldn't have.Now instead of "trying" so hard to get here,I'm "trying" HARDER to stay here.By me saying I'm trying harder it's because now that I'm a thin person I kind of find myself giving myself a little (lot) more slack than I would have when I was trying my hardest to get here,which is what got us all here in the first place.It's pretty scary.Our bodies have a tendency to be overweight so I assume I can go right back to being that way pretty easily.I need to get back that strong will power I had all these months...................which is why I'm here.I need encouragement now too.I was so strong willed all these months but now I need a kick in the butt!!:help:

Hey Lisa!! I am buying regular foods that fall into the South Beach guidelines and my family can eat them too, so it makes it so much easier. I have a lot of recipes and meal plans on my South Beach thread too!

I am glad you are here! I am glad we can learn from each other!!

How are you doing? It must be awesome to be at goal!!! What is different about maintaining then the losing stage?

I had lasiks right after my surgery. We figured get it all done in one year so we can use the tax deduction.

I really could not see perfectly for about a week. And things were rough, like my eyes felt really tired for about the same amount of time. But, it is great now. I agree that the eye surgery was worse than the lapband.

Hi Lisa!!! I am glad that we can be there for you, to encourage you! I hope that the good habits I am trying to enforce will carry me through to my goal and those new habits will be "normal" to me at that point.

I am trying to get in calories and not eat too little as I have been told that it can cause our metabolisms to slow down and hurt us in the long run.

And a kick in the butt!!!:faint:

Well, I got my butt to the gym. 40 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the bicycle.

I ate:

Breakfast: 1 egg with cheddar cheese

Lunch: South Beach chicken and green Beans dinner

Snack: 2 string cheese

Snack: Activia yogurt

Dinner: smoked oysters

I am not hungry any more and wish I didn't have to eat again. I am at 900 calories and my goal is 1200 so my metabolism won't slow down.

How are you all doing?

It looks like it was a quiet day on the boards!

I can't imagine doing that much at the gym. I am trying to figure out if I am a whimp or I just need to suck it up.

How fast did you walk, and bicycle?

I used to be at they gym for 2-2 1/2 hours a day with a personal trainer and slowed it down to 1 1/2 hours when I'd go with my step daughter. I am just used to staying a long time at the gym or I feel like it was a waste of my time. I walked at a brisk pace, not too fast and the bicycle at a nice pace.

What I do is just do what I feel I can and then build a little more every week. I will eventually add fast walking at an upward incline, the elyptical very fast, the stair climber, weights, swimming and some aerobic classes. I was such a gym junkie but once I stop going it is hard for me to get back into the groove.

I need an Ipod!!!

But, just do what you feel comfortable with and just add a little at a time. As long as it's fun, I find I stick to it!!! Maybe swimming??

I'm a pre-bander. I started at 215, BMI 39.5. I have my surgery 3/2 by Dr. Fox in Tri-Cities, WA.

I have to self-pay :D

Hi! Your surgery is around the corner!! I was a self pay too! But, worth every cent to be thin one day!!

Do you have to do a pre op??

Audree, wow, you had a real hard work out for your first time back. I'm impressed! I wish I could find an exercise that I thought was fun, but I never have gotten that adrenaline rush from exerting myself. I forced myself to walk 30 minutes a day this past week. I do have an Ipod, and that probably the only thing that keeps me distracted enough to keep going. I just keep looking at my watch.

Oohh, not for me. My eye surgery was a breeze compared to my first 3 days of lap band surgery. I was totally knocked out for 24 hours, and the next day I went in to get my patch removed and could see perfectly.

Hope you are still doing better. I'm sorry you had such a rough time. I guess different types of surgeries affect different people in entirely different ways.

Thanks for the advice about the tax savings by having all this done in the same year. I'll have to think about what "health related" things I have been putting off.
