Lower BMI Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I just realized that I am a few pounds from being at 25 BMI which means I am almost to NORMAL range! NORMAL!! I can not wait! :)

I am 35 or so from goal, but wondering how much of that is skin now? What do you guys think skin weighs? Should we count that out?? lol..sounds like a plan to me.

You bet skin weighs. Save your money and get it off as soon as you loose all your weight. I am saving and I my surgery is not till Aug 1.

How are you all doing? The posters and the lurkers out there!!! Stop by and tell me how you are doing?:D

I am doing good. I was tighter, now I am not getting stuck anymore like I was with the fist bite syndrome. I am eating about 1000-1400 calories a day. I am feeling good. Still have not began TOM and wondering if losing 5+ pounds in 2 weeks would affect that. I know that I have heard that losing a chunck of weight can affect your menstrual cycle.

Has that happened to anyone else?

But, I am watching my portions, eating Proteins first and veggies 2nd, so basically doing the South Beach Diet again. I am feeling very good eating this way, as always.

I have figured out why I haven't started exercising yet. I have been going through a lot of major life changes. I think I can only take 1 thing at a time in regards to changing myself.

Exercise is the next thing on my list!!!

Hi guys! This is my first time to join in one of these discussion boards. I was banded 5/9/06 by Dr. Adam Smith in Fort Worth.

I had to be deflated at about 5 months when I thought I was pregnant. Then had to go through the whole refill process again. ARGH! So far, I've only lost about 30 pounds in over a year. I'm getting discouraged, but I think it's my own fault. My choice of foods is still not so good and I seem to be able to eat more than I should be able to. I'm afraid I've stretched out my stoma.

Has anyone else had this happen? Can it be fixed?

Thanks!

Good to see everyone here! I just got back from vacation in Myrtle Beach after having my first fill two days before the trip. I'm pleased to say that I enjoyed food while I was there, but didn't go overboard, which was certainly a change. I didn't gain any weight while there, which was my goal.

I did get stuck and PB for the first time though. Ack...that was awful. As soon as I was done though, I felt better. Now I know what y'all mean about trying to eat bread and can only imagine that it will be totally out of my diet when I get my 2nd fill next week!

I'm not doing good and getting depressed as I always do when I try and nothing happens...the only difference now is that I can't eat to "ease" my pain...LOL

I'm wearing my bodybugg and journalling everything and i'm eating an average of 1450 calories a day and burning an average of 2800 calories a day. I know I should be losing and i'm NOT! I have been trying to drink more Water and have been doing that faithfully but just can't seem to get the scale moving. I had lost some inches the week b4 last, but no more inches and no pounds are coming off these past two weeks....argh.:sick I'm just sick with it all...

BgotB: I also am having a delayed TOM! Frustrating since I am usually like clockwork - but I dropped a bunch of weight post-op so my body must be out of whack. Good to know someone else is having this problem.

I am doing fine. I am not losing either. I saw a lady today that told me that she has had her band for 3 years and is still losing. Somehow that made me feel better. I just don't want this to be all I lose. Even if it comes off slowly, it's better than gaining and gaining more and more.

Renee, I don't know what to tell you. I do the same as you and I don't lose either. I have to believe it will come off. I know other people that get stuck on plateaus, and tell me that all of a sudden they will drop a few more and they didn't do anything any differently.

Audree, I can't help you out with TOM. I haven't had any of those for 4 years now, since I was 50.

Hey aren't you kinda young to be having a midlifecrisis? LOL

You're only a couple years older than I and I still think of myself as young! My late 50's are when I plan on having my midlife crisis....:whoo:

Hi All... I have a BMI of 35 and am at the first stages of the process where ia m still contemplating wheter to go the Lapband or the VSG. At this stage the VSG is winning as am concerned about the slippage, blockage issues and the ongoing maintenence of the Lapband.

What do ppl think and is there anyone here who has had the VSG?

I doubt if you will find anyone on here that had another kind of surgery. This is lap band talk. We have had the lap band.

I have not been banded and am awaiting to see the Nutritionist . My BMI borders around 36/37 and I am a big boned 5'8" kinda gal. Somtimes I get those thoughts in my head like I'm not overweight enough for this surgery.!!...or maybe I don't deserve it. Then when I went to my PCP and the nurse said I was developing High blood pressure and I think about the people in my family that got Type 11 diabetes I don't think I'm crazy. I must remember this is not a cosmetic proceedure but a life saving/prolonging proceedure but still I know if I told certain people I was having this they would think I was totally nuts but who cares...

I realise this is lap band talk, but there is also on other threads quite a bit of discussion around Lapband and VSG, so thought given it is procedure recommended for lower BMI patients, that some of the ppl on this thread may have had it instead of or after their lapband.

Am quite aware that the majority of ppl have lapbands but would be nice to hear their opinions etc..i believed that was the purpose of thsi forum - discussion aroun lapband , procedures etc... hence me posting the above:)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
