You are doing the right thing! You will do great!! And we will all be here waiting for you when you get back! When do you leave?

Silry,

I remember feeling freaked out too. I told myself I could walk away from the surgery up to the minute that I was knocked out.

It is all very exciting, and scary... and exciting!

Silry, or anyone know a good loan company for bad credit I know it will be high interest but it dont matter. Anyone know let me know. Thanks

unfortunantly i do not. :cry we first applied with surgeryloans.com... they gave us a 14% interest rate. i have horrible credit (darn those student loans) and he has impeccable credit but that was the best they would give us. luckily he has discover card with a very low interest rate so we just charged it.

i'd do a google search for bad-credit loans. also, it doesn't hurt to try to repair your credit in the meanwhile. there are lots you can do on your own. you can apply for a few credit cards as well. my doctor is letting us split payments b/t 2 cards. if you get 2 with a low introductory rate... you could use those!

GOOD LUCK and *hug*. sorry i don't have more to offer.

Audree,

I agree with Serious. I think you should weigh yourself when YOU are ready.... even though we are all dying to know. I like your attitude about it though... that you are trying to do something different.

I feel that everything I am doing is different right now so I totally relate. I always try to keep no food in the house except what I am eating that day because I am afraid that I will eat it all. Now I just have food lying around. Well, it is put away in my kitchen but I am not eating it.

It is so weird to me to be sitting here, not having eaten for 4 hours and not even remotely hungry. I am not restricted really but I am really not eating a ton of food. It is really hard to get my mind wrapped around it even though I am doing it. I keep waiting for it to somehow end even though intellectually I know it won't.

I am thinking of waiting to get the fill for a little bit just to see how things go, to kind of get used to where I am now. I am for some reason ambivalent about getting the fill, even though I don't think I am losing that much weight. Of course at the same time I am not eating or wanting to eat as much as I did.

He was dying to know too because he says that I look so much thinner. I told him no because don't we weigh more at night???

He told me he wouldn't tell me unless it was really good. I got on the scale 4 different times and..................

I started my pre op diet at 190, went down to 186 surgery day and tonight I am 175!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

So, does that mean in the morning I will be less!! I just ate and had a bunch of Water too!!!

I just thought I'd let you know!

Thanks BikerGirl for the suggestion!!!

Audree,

That's good, but keep in mind, that you may gain some of that back initially. I stand by what I originally said, ( I am a critical care nurse), you are still in the healing phase. I think it's important to not get caught up in the weight loss right now, because your weight is probably going to flucuate....( some of the weight loss is Water weight, the surgery caused edema, and that is some of what is being reflected initially, also, the deprivation caused by the pre and post op diet). I just don't want you or anyone else to get discouraged. The weight will come off if you follow the bandster rules. I have read too many posts on this and other sites about people saying the band didn't work. Sometimes, it's not the band that is not working, it's that they had unrealistic expectations and did not fully understand how the band is designed to help you lose weight. Of course, we got the surgery in order to lose weight, but with the band it is a set process. I think focusing too much on weight loss during the early stages sets people up for failure, especially since the weightloss may be reflective of other physiological adaptations, and thus not a valid number.

Genius,

Get the fill when you are ready...I can't over emphasize how this is not about weightloss at this stage of the game. Step one: you got the surgery, Step two: you heal from the surgery, Step three: you adapt to the bandster lifestyle, learning to eat the bandster way, learning to recognize when your pouch says you are full, drinking your Water and getting in your exercise. You get the fill when your body tells you it is time; you are not satiated on portions, you are not losing weight after following bandster rules, and so on. It is an individual response based on your body signals.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
