Welcome home Audree. All the symptoms you are having are all normal after the surgery. Glad you got home safely and you're doing well.

I had another fill on Friday, so I am back on liquids for 1 week, mushies for 1 week and week 3 solids. I am a bit discouraged that I am not losing as quickly as I would like to. :violin: But I am losing.:clap2:

I need a support group badly. Looks like OA is back in order.

It actually was easy to fly for the most part. Except for in first class they bring around all kinds of yummy food. An omelette and fruit the first flight and chicken or veggie pizza the second flight. I really can't imagine eating anything right now but it did smell good. I came home and just had broth which was pretty satisfying. I still am having some gas pressure but walking does help.

Audree glad you are back and feeling alright. I also feel pretty good I am happy to report.

Yes I am... but better now that I am at home. The plane food smelled really good. Also I hadn't had any broth or anything all day. Now that I am home and had broth I feel a lot better. How about you?

Supergenius:

I had broth for brunch (on the way home), broth at home for lunch and dinner. Jello and ice pops for snack. I am full now. The Wolfgang Puck chicken broth is soooo good. It is high in sodium, but just has a lot more taste. I get to have yogurt on day 4 (Tuesday). I think someone said if you can have the yogurt, you can have Skinny Cow cheese. I am going to email my nutritionist because Skinny Cow sounds reeeeeeaaaaaaaalllllllyyyyyyy good!!!! YUM YUM

My body is not hungry, but I just want to have the texture and taste in my mouth, but I am not hungry. I think I am thristy too and need to drink more Water, crystal light.

My port is a little sore. It feels good when I lean on a squishy pillow. I think I may buy one of those surgical wrap around girdle type things I had with my c section. When I sneeze, it feels weird. I feel like I am getting a headache and don't know why. Someone mentioned due to low calorie intake for days. I am tired and want to sleep.

I am going to drink some Gatorade to see if I need the electrolytes.

Take care! Audree

Has anyone heard of body brushing? Here is what I got.

DRY SKIN BRUSHING

It is WELL known that the Skin is the LARGEST Organ in the Body, and is responsible for one-fourth of the Body's Detoxification each day, also making it, one of the most IMPORTANT Elimination Organs! The Skin is also known as the "3rd" Kidneys and the Lungs are known as the "2nd" Kidneys. TOXICITY can gather beneath the Skin's Surface from such COMMON Influences such as IMPROPER pH levels in Body Soaps, Skin Creams and Anti-Perspirants, plus Synthetic Fibers worn NEXT to the Skin with ANY of them contributing to a variety of Skin Problems and Conditions.

When you do Skin Brushing, you HELP your Lymph System to CLEAN itself of the TOXINS, that COLLECT in the Lymph Glands. You use a Simple Technique to IMPROVE the Surface Circulation on the Skin and KEEP the Pores of the Skin OPEN, encouraging your Body's Discharge of Metabolic Wastes, and resulting in an IMPROVED ability to COMBAT Bacteria, plus HELPING your Skin to look and feel HEALTHIER and MORE RESILIENT! Skin Brushing is a PERFECT Treatment for SELF-HELP Enthusiasts.

  • Benefits:
  • TIGHTENS Skin.
  • HELPS Digestion.
  • REMOVES cellulite.< /span>
  • STIMULATES Circulation.
  • INCREASES Cell Renewal.
  • CLEANS Lymphatic System.
  • REMOVES Dead Skin Layers.
  • STRENGTHENS Immune System.
  • IMPROVES Exchange between Cells.
  • STIMULATES the Glands, thus helping ALL of the
Body Systems to perform at PEAK EFFICIENCY!

  1. How To Do:
  2. Buy a NATURAL, NOT Synthetic, Bristle Brush, since it does NOT SCRATCH the Surface of the Skin.
  3. Buy a Brush with a LONG Handle, so that you're ABLE to get to the Areas of your Body, that are NOT EASY to reach, when doing your own Skin Brushing.
  4. Skin Brush, before Showering or Bathing, at least ONCE per day, and TWICE, if possible.
  5. Do NOT wet Skin, since it will NOT have the SAME Effect, because this stretches the Skin.
  6. ALWAYS Skin Brush towards the Heart.
  7. Do Circular Counter-Clockwise Strokes on the Abdomen.
  8. Do LIGHTER Strokes over and around Breasts, but do NOT Brush the Nipples.
  9. Brush each part of the Body several times VIGOROUSLY, COMPLETELY Brushing the WHOLE Body.
  10. Brush the Soles of the Feet FIRST, because the Nerve Endings there affect the WHOLE Body, next Brush the Ankles, Calves, and Thighs, then Brush across your Stomach and Buttocks and lastly Brush your Hands to the Arms.
  11. Take a WARM Bath or Shower, which should always be followed by a COOL Rinse at the end to INVIGORATE Blood Circulation and STIMULATE Surface Warmth.
  12. Wash your Brush every few Weeks in Water and let it DRY.

DRY SKIN BRUSHING 2

Dry skin brushing tones the immune and circulatory systems. It may reduce the duration of infection and accelerate the clearing of toxins. It will reduce cellulite, help support the immune system during cancer and other chronic illness treatment. Best of all, it feels really good!

    1. Using your right hand, gently slide the brush along your right jaw line starting from your earlobe to the underside of your chin 7 times.
    2. Place the brush at the hairline on your neck and gently pull around the right side of your neck to the Adam's apple 7 times.
    3. Hold the brush with your right hand at the bottom of your neck (where it joins the top of your back) and bring it around your neck to the right and down along your right collar bone and end up between your collar bones.

[*]Stroke your breastbone in a circular fashion to stimulate the thymus gland. Carefully brush the breast in a circular motion. Do all of Step 1c 7 times. Repeat steps a, b and c on your left side holding the brush with your left hand. 2. To stimulate the pituitary gland, hold the brush on the back of your head near the base of your neck and rock the brush up and down, then side to side, both 14 times.

[*]Hold the brush in your left armpit with your right hand and rotate it counter clockwise 7 items, then clockwise 7 times. Repeat on your right armpit with your left hand.

[*]Brush upward 7 times from your upper right thigh to your right armpit. Repeat process on your left side. Women may need to hold their breast out of the way with their free hand.

[*]Brush back and forth over your belly button and around your waistline 14 times (like passing a basketball behind your back).

[*]Brush in a circular motion over your belly-button, counter-clockwise 7 times then clockwise 7 times. Finish brushing the front of your body in any direction starting at the bottom and brushing all the way up 14 times. Very little pressure needs to be applied to the genitals and women's breasts because the skin is sensitive and will redden if irritated.

[*]Brush up and down your spine from the base of your neck and down as far as you can 14 times Finish your upper back by stroking it around toward your 11 sides.

[*]Brush your spine from tailbone up as high as you can reach 14 times, holding the brush with two hands or with the detachable wooden handle. Finish your lower back by stroking it around toward your sides).

[*]Brush up from right ankle to right knee and work all the way around your leg, brushing up towards your heart This improves blood circulation, firms skin and gets rid of cellulite.

[*]Hold the brush in the right groin with both hands and rotate it 7 times counter-clockwise, then 7 times clockwise. Repeat with the left groin.

[*]

  1. Brush from right knee to right hip 7 times. Work all the way around your leg continuing to brush upwards (towards the heart).
  2. Brush up from right ankle to right knee and work all the way around your leg, brushing up towards your heart (Figure 11). This improves blood circulation, firms skin and gets rid of cellulite.
  3. Brush around your right ankle 7 times.
  4. Brush back and forth over the top of your right foot from toes to ankle.
  5. Brush across your right toes on top and underneath 7 times.

[*]Brush the bottom of your right foot heel to toe 7 times.

[*]Repeat numbers 11-12 for your left thigh, left leg and foot.

[*]

  1. Brushing upward from right elbow to your armpit and shoulder, cover that entire area 7 times.
  2. Brush from your right wrist to the elbow in the same manner 7 times.

[*]Repeat number 14 for your left arm.

[*]Lightly brush the webbing (or junction) between your left thumb and index or pointer finger on the palmside 14 times, then on the non-palmside 14 times (Figure 15).

[*]Brush your left palm from wrist to fingertips and back 7 times. Brush the back of your left hand the same way 7 times.

[*]Brush each left hand finger individually back and forth 7 times on the areas that have not been brushed yet.

[*]Repeat steps 16-17 for your right hand.

I thought this was some good info. Let's look into it, google it, so we can know what to say to a rude manager at a restaurant. Anyone know a lawyer you can ask? I have pre paid legal and am going to ask about the disabiliy act.

quote:

"I was talking with my nurse cooridinator who also happens to have had weight loss surgery and she mentioned the American Disabilities Act and weight loss surgery does fall under that act. You might want to push it with them and see what they say. I'd like to be informed by the time it comes for me to go out to a restaurant. In any case, most restaurants have a cup of Soup for like $3. In any case, I want to know my legal rights.

Hey Audree,

I am doing A LOT better today.

I think the plane ride home was a little stressful. I had a slight fever last night... 100.4* and I think it was because I was tired.

No fever this morning and I am at work and feeling fine. I am also not hungry, I feel fine with my juices and Water. I don't feel at all hungry which is how I felt yesterday.

I am going to get some of the Wolfgang Puck broth for lunch and dinner because I think the broth helps a lot to make me feel satisfied.

I am going to say it is a little too early for me to report that this is a true weight loss BUT my scale has me down 2lbs from when I left on Friday...

Hello All,

I really am not sure what my BMI is. Need to ask my doc at my next app. I no that it was around 36 and my insurance paid for it. I was banded on May.22nd 2006 starting weight at 215 and weigh now 165. So 50lbs in about 6or7months. I am still loosing steadily about 2lbs a week. My band is 4cc and I have had 2 fills totalling 3cc. I am pretty tight and I try to eat more then I should which causes me to get sick alot more then I should. Need to work on that one. Anyway would love to join this group. My goal weight is around 140.

LaJuanna:

They put my port right under my ribs, a few inches from the middle where my ribs meet, to the left and a couple inches down. So, no where near the waist area. I thought I'd be in more pain. I am somewhat sore, last night before bed more sore.

When is your surgery scheduled? Audree

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
