pinky12202 0 Posted December 12, 2006 Hi guys, i was just wondering if i absolutely have to have Protein Shakes for my pre-op liquid diet, or is slim-fast okay too? I've heard bad things about Protein shakes and i kinda like slim-fast.
Kat817 19 Posted December 12, 2006 Wow!! What kind of bad things? The biggest difference in the 2 is the amount of Protein and the amount of fat and calories. Slimfast was off limits to me during pre-op due to the fat content I believe. Ask your Dr. You are paying them good money---they ought to be able to answer a few questions!!! You might look into some unflavored Protein Powder to mix with your Slimfast if you need to bump the protein. I would imagine it too will end up where most of our Protein Shakes did---blech!!! Tiring, when that seems it is all you get!!! But these pre -op and post-op diets will soon be behind you, and life will be easier!!! Good Luck, hope you find out some answers!!! If you want someting simple to carry there are several good brands of protein shakes in a can or similar...look for low carb, high protein and lots of Vitamins and minerals. beachgirl 2 Posted December 12, 2006 Try the Isopure, can you have that. Someone, naturally I've done forgot who, Beth or Steph I believe told me about it and it's great. It's like a liquid Jello that you drink and it's full of Protein. You can get it at G.N.C. May be worth looking into. Good luck.
slowkat 0 Posted December 12, 2006 What about the medifast Protein Shakes?
pinky12202 0 Posted December 12, 2006 Thanks guys. I checked the label on Slim-Fast, you're right, it doesn't have a lot of Protein. I'll try to find something better. I still have about 3 weeks before i start the pre-op diet, but i figure it doesn't hurt to try and find something in advance.
