Off Topic: Blisters! HELP!

Recommended Posts

So, I'm 6 days post op and feeling pretty great except for ONE thing.

My abdominal binder caused 2 tiny blisters on my waistline, on each side of my belly button. I've tried everything in my medicine cabinet to soothe them, I resorted to lancing and draining them myself, but they are STILL SO PAINFUL. I mean, these suckers are 100x more painful than any of my incisions. It's to the point that I can't even pull my shirt down or my pants all the way up - NOTHING can touch these blisters, even when I have them covered in 3 layers of gauze.

I don't know what to do!! I didn't want to cry once from the surgery incisions, but these two very tiny blisters are killing me!!!

What will take them away??? They aren't infected. They are a little pink, but not oozing pus or anything. I mean, I've self-treated blisters on my feet and such without any problem, but this might be the most painful thing I've ever experienced in my life, and I'm not exaggerating!! They scream in pain every time I move. I'm at my wits end - it's impeding my recovery because they hurt SO much. And they are both tinier than a baby pea.

I want to walk around, I want to do all the things I need to do to recover from surgery, and this is really putting a damper on all of that!

What do I do? Please, please help!!

Unless your dr requires you to wear the garment I would not wear it. Nothing should be touching your incisions .. Especially tight clothing. For the blisters, and as you can, I would keep them uncovered and let them get air.. Or at least extremely loose and light gauze/clothing? Because of the garment probably made you sweat more than normal you may have gotten a yeast infection and those don't always look infected, but need to be treated with something like lotrimin.

I'm not a dr and this is only a suggestion

thanks - I did stop wearing the binder after the first 2 days, but these blisters will NOT quit. They aren't part of any incision, they are about 2 inches away from my belly button incision on either side. Thankfully, they aren't oozing pus or anything like that.

I'm getting some boil ease which has 20% benzocaine (topical pain relief) so hopefully that will help. I see my surgeon on Friday, so if they are still there, I'll ask him about it. This pain is seriously out of this world. I don't think I've ever had anything more painful IN MY LIFE.

It's so frustrating because my incisions feel so much better! if it wasn't for these dang blisters, I'd be doing SO much more stuff. :(

Have the Dr lance them, keep them clean and dry. I know the pain of friction blisters, if you think this is bad, you have NO idea how bad it is to have a friction blister on your lady bits! Yeah, it's a real thing, so please no "informed" comments on STDs, I've been to my Dr been thoroughly checked out for every conceivable STD and I'm clean, but because of a deformity I have and the massive weight loss, one of my inner labia is in the wrong position and gets pinched and rubbed raw if I don't "tuck", so when I do heavy travelling or running and forget to "tuck" I get a friction blister and it is incomprehensibly painful, especially because you can't do any of the things you are supposed to for blisters, I can't lay there all day with my legs open, letting the air and wind dry it! I can't lance it because I can't keep the area dry and bandanged, it's miserable and the more weight I lose, the more exposed this bit of flesh becomes, so I'm thinking of having reconstructive surgery.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
