When can you drink anything? I read somewhere that you dont drink for the first day?

You can't drink until the following day when they do an upper GI to check for leaks. They'll give you ice with a mouth swabber but no drinking

It depends on the surgeon. I drank a couple of hours after surgery. my surgeon did leak tests while I was still out .....before going to the recovery room. Best Wishes

I got ice chips later in the day but i was too doped out of my mind like 5 hours post op i was in alot of pain i have a difficult time w pain meds they dont work well if at all, so that night when i finally got up i felt better next morning and all that day i got Water then third an final day i got crystal light yogurt and broth to choose from had some yogurt did fine with it
