What are some good Protein Shakes? I have tried two now and I can't find any that tastes as good as the HMR ones did. I guess they don't recommend them after the 9 day diet.

I use the premier Protein shakes from costco or Sams. They are ready-to-drink containers, they come in vanilla or chocolate. They are low cal/low carb and have 30g Protein per serving.

The chocolate is good on its own, the vanilla I think is better for mixing with other things or as a base for a smoothie. It's just a little too sweet on its own, IMO.

Syntrax nectar has a lot of varieties as well. And they have an unflavored powder so you can add it into anything to up the protein!

I use one called Pure Protien that I've been getting at my local store. I like the taste, and I like that it has 23g of protien, but only 2g of sugar and 110 callories.

I too like the premiere Protein. If you want to "try before you buy ", instead of buying a huge carton at costco, Safeway sells packs of four. :)

Though if you buy it at costco and don't like it you can always take it back. ;-)

I use Lambarda. 40 grams of Protein per serving, no sugar and 3 carbs. It is a bit expensive but they are by far the absolute best tasting shake i've tried. Before them I didn't get even close to the 90 grams a day I was suppose to be hitting, now i'm doing much better. The serving is pretty big though, at least for a sleeved, I work through one a day. But really they are so friggin delicious!

I LOVED THE HMR!!!! But they were so expensive. I use Bariatric Advantage vanilla and mix it with Fat Free milk - shake it up and let it sit in the refrigerator for an hour ( or how ever long it takes me to finish the 1 scoop to 1 cup milk ). It tastes really great! My husband has asked me to make him one for deserts!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
