So Governor Christy had lapband surgery.

I did and its the reason I decided on getting the sleeve. It's like it was my life on those pages.

Just ordered it from Amazon!!

I am horrible and going to hell for this, but... did it cross anybody's mind that the lap band device manufacturers might have perhaps offered him an "incentive" to use their product? That's the only reason that makes sense to me.

I mean he is a high profile person and they might be trying to get a little more life ($$$) out of their dangerous, obsolete product.

food for thought - don't shoot me!!

Jen Larsen wrote Stranger Here! Great book! I read it!! I even e mailed her a note thanking her for sharing her journey! It was funny yet serious and I recommend it to all of you. She even responded to my email thanking me for reading her book! Very cool!!!

What is the book about?

Stranger Here is about one woman's weight loss journey. She had DS and not the sleeve, but it was very insightful. It starts when she was over 300 lbs and miserable, and then her decision to have surgery, and then the aftermath. Her style of writing is very down to earth, funny, but can also be serious. I related to her in so many ways. Highly recommend it and its a short read. Finished it in a few days without even trying.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
