So Governor Christy had lapband surgery.

Recommended Posts

He seemed so confident with his weight and I never thought it was an issue for him. In a recent interview he talked about a meeting with a Dr who liken WLS to surgery to remove a disease. Most don't look at obesity as a disease. They just see us as fat overeaters.

Good for him.

He said he did it for his wife and kids not for political reasons but....I'm sure it had to influence him that people kept saying nobody would vote for such an overweight man for President. I just hope it works well for him, I see so many on here that had lapband and now are getting VSG.

IMO they should have made him get the sleeve or bypass because of his weight the band wont be affective for him long term.

I agree! I sure wish I was a fly on the wall in that conversation with his surgeon! Maybe it was him who wanted the band & didn't listen to their advice?? Who knows!

I thought the same thing - why didn't he get the sleeve? I thought about writing him to say good luck, but when you get sick of it look into the sleeve!

I get it! I'm in marketing and the skinny girl always gets the business. That's the type of world we live in. No matter how good I do my job it never fails. Oh well......I'm catching up to that skinny girl and business is also improving! But most importantly I did it for me, my health and my family. I hope Gov. Christy is successful but I agree.....should've had the sleeve!!

And you know this how? please leave this man and his family alone this is his choice; not our's if it works fine and if it don't work it is him not your choice, good lord we don't own this man just because he is a governor.his personal life has nothing to do with us.

No one is saying you can't have a opinion I read alot of post about the band that is why I got the sleeve, I (thought I read where it was posted he should have been made to get the sleeve or bypass if this was not you then I am sorry but my problem is when any one say they should have (MADE him get one or the other too choice's, I really don't like it when the word's (make someone do something come up) if this was not you I am sorry not trying to stop your 2nd amendment or any one else for that matter.

i did say made but because they know the data of the band thats why and by they i mean doctors. im glad he did something just wish it was a sleeve or bypass. And the 2nd Amendment is the right to bear arms the 1st Amendment is freedom of speech, press, media, religion and expression. its okay just the doctors know more then the patient thats why i said that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
