I thought I was eating a lot per meal until I started measuring my meals and 1/2 cup of food makes me full. Hell I just measured out 2/3 cup of food and couldn't finish it. I'm 7 months post op and still have great restriction. I did slip back into grazing but a meeting with my NUT has me back on track. I measure and weigh my food but I don't bother with counting calories since my NUT told me to stop counting cals. If I grazed I could easily eat 2000 cals and I have before! Now I'm back to eating under 1000 cals and it's a lot harder now that I'm further out but now its easier.

I would definitely say that it's possible to eat more now at 4.5 months postoperative than I could the first month out, but I'm really not all that hungry, and I find that I am still Satisfied on WAY less food than ever before in my life. However, all of the slider foods, like carbs, crackers and the like, really go down easy and you still have to make a conscious decision to NOT eat that stuff all the time! BUT staying away from that junk is MUCH easier mentally for me than any time I can remember in my life! not sure how much of that is mental, and how much of that is the physical limits of the sleeve, For me personally, my desire to eat bad stuff has gone WAY down....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
