This really is the worst part of the surgery for me but I can say this it gets easier. Try and eat stuff that's not so dry and after you eat keep your self busy time well fly by good luck

Yes, your not suppose to ever drink with your meal or 30 mins before or after, you dont want to fill your stomach up w/liquid you need to get your nutriants in and the Water will push the food faster so your body wont beable to get all the nutriants it needs from the food

Yeah it stinks but I'm learning to adapt. I try to include something moist such as a dollop of greek yogurt with my meal. I do "drink" with my meal just enough to take my Vitamins.. about two tablespoons of Water.. I don't suppose that's enough to even count.

A lot of people are raised to never drink with their meals... but I always drank a LOT with mine so it's been quite an adjustment

ok, i cheat. i sip a tiny amount of Water when i eating. i do not recommended that you keep the glass of water next to your plate. once i forgot and took a very large gulp without thinking. .....sigh....the sleeve said, "are you crazy....you're not supposed to drink that much water at one time and especially during a meal." yep....the sleeve corrected my behavior immediately. :)

Yeah it sucks but you get used to it. I make sure I drink something before eating, my doctor says up to 15 min before eating. Then wait an hour after eating to drink again. So when in doubt I pick drinking over eating b/c I can eat in about 15-20 min from then.

I have to push my glass away. It was a hard habit to break but once you don't have a glass around, it does get easier.

I have to stop 15 mins prior and 30 after. Yes, it's lifelong. With our limited absorbtion you don't want to wash away the nutrients or overfill your pouch with liquid.< /p>

It's not too hard for me to not drink with meals, but the waiting afterward is the hard part. I actually don't time it. I just wait until I feel like my food has digested... about 30 minutes.. sometimes more. I should time it but I'm too lazy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
