9 weeks out, ques. About eating

Recommended Posts

So I am 9 weeks post op tomorrow and I was wondering about this whole eating thing... Lol

When I do eat, it's a tiny amount, obviously, and I make sure it is worthwhile. In other words, it has to be a serious amount of Protein for me to eat it. Now, I've been eyeing these big and ripe strawberries that look so good. But, I can't seem to convince myself they are worth eating, kwim?

Anyone else feel this way?

Strawberries killed me for the longest time post op due to the little seeds. I would avoid them for right now.

And plus they are high in sugar. Best to avoid high sugar fruits

I could eat so little at 9 weeks out that I think its redundant eating a few strawberries. I have never stalled and now over 6 months out prob got me out of starvation mode! (i dont believe in the whole low carb thing). As far as "treats" go - they arent a bad choice as long as you just have a few.

I am also 9 weeks out and do have strawberries. Have no problem. Just have a couple, and they are delicious. I also put two or three in a Protein Shake.< /p>

You NEED to eat things that aren't just Protein. Fruits and vegetables are important parts of your meals too!

Have your Protein and 2 tablespoons of fruit or 2 tablespoons of veggies.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
