:( I'm feeling VERY down today! I get on this forum everyday, I look at ppl's progress and I am so happy for them but then I read the stats of their pre surgery weight and I get so dwn about it. Some of u guys are starting this wls at 300 lbs, 275lbs and even 215lbs and here I am at 500+lbs and I'm just getting my date. Believe me, no 1 is to blame for this but me but when I see ppl that had the wls already...I'm thinkin I have SO MUCH WEIGHT TO LOOSE, Im worried about just getting to some of yalls STARTING weight  . Im just really feeling like is this surgery gonna be enough for me to be at a normal weight? I'm scared to even put during and after pics on this forum because Im ashamed it will take a decade to even get to where you guys are! Im sorry for being a buzz kill 2day but this is just how I'm feeling 2day.:(<_<

Oh babe!

Please this is not about what I weigh or what you weigh it's about all of us trying to overcome our issues with food and become more healthy!

It's hard not to get caught up on the comparisons I know, just this morning I saw a woman's "before" pics she put up for inspiration

And my first though was "yeah right skinny b***h"

:P

But I need to look at ME and MY life and how the quality for it will change when I lose MY weight.

Remember this is about you, not some random person on the Internet :)

I'm so sorry you are feeling down today. The most important thing you need to remind yourself is that you are not alone. I agree with Laura. This is about you and the great decisions you are making for yourself now. We have all been there, and regardless of our starting weight, it seemed almost impossible to hope that we'll be as successful as others. You made a positive step towards leaving those feelings in the past. Take it one step at a time and don't focus on other people's numbers, as hard as that may be. Focus on you and what you are accomplishing. None of us put on the weight overnight, it takes time and commitment. Start fresh today, and only look back as a reminder of what you DON'T want to repeat.

Good luck!

*hugs* There is no such thing as a "normal" weight, everyone is different, therefore everyone's "normal" is different. But you know what? Because you are starting at a higher weight than some of us, you are going to drop weight faster than a lot of us have. So you will be seeing changes a lot faster than most of us. This isn't about comparing yourself to anybody else, this is about you getting healthier and leading a better higher quality life. You are going to do amazing! The only one you should be comparing your self to, is you from yesterday. Remember, you decide how much weight you will drop with this surgery, so you can keep going till you are the size you want to be, it's all up to you!! Remember, we are all here for you, and you are amazing!!

Well, the good news is the more you weigh, the faster you generally loose. Just keep moving forward. It may seem like an eternity now, but from "the other side", it'll seem to have only taken a minute!

All the ladies (& gentleman) above me said EXACTLY what I wanted to say but I couldn't see through my tears after I read your post! Don't lose hope before you even start! You picked out the perfect name for yourself here, "Never be the same again!" So go for it!!

I do understand what you're saying though, I see people's pre-op weight & I dream of being THAT weight! You know what though, I firmly believe in "better late than never!" Just think how fast your numbers will drop after your surgery! You will lose an incredible amount of weight in a very short time. Just have a little faith, trust & we're all sending you some "pixie dust!" Be blessed!

There is some good news... The bigger you are the faster you will lose. Starting at 500+ lbs I'd be very surprised if you didn't lose 125-150lbs in the first 6months and 200lbs in the first year. Of course this is assuming that you are compliant to the program set up for you.

We have had several sleevers on this forum that have started in the same area you are in. Even a couple 600+lbers.

You are not alone, believe me, we do not look down on you. I can say, but for the grace of God go I. Many of us were headed for right where you are at. We were just fortunate enough to find the sleeve and were able to get it before we got there.

One last thing, I understand your hesitance to post pics, before surgery you couldn't get me near a camera. I wanted no evidence anywhere that I had allowed myself get as big as I did. BUT, I must urge you to take a few "before" pics you will be so much more comfortable just a few months after surgery, and you'll wish you had pics if where you began. Additionally, 6months or a year out, when one of your acquaintances talks about how they didn't even recognize you, there is going to be a big girl/guy there overhearing the conversation, someone will ask how you did it. The big girl/guy will assume that you lost 50 or 60 lbs, once they see where you came from you will become their saving grace.

Yes, you are bigger than most of us were when we started, that just means that your opportunity to improve your life and inspire others is that much greater.

Like everyone else has said.. It doesn't matter what our weight differences are.. In one way or another we're all the same. And in being here together we always find someone who can support us in whatever we need it in. We're all inspiring to some one regardless of what we weigh.. And I mean EVERYONE! :D

I just had to chime in here. I was feeling this same way while watching the Biggest loser this past season. I realized the reason I never watched, is because I was heavier than most of the contestants.

I thought I had reached my highest wt on my 50th BD @303 (4 yrs ago) But I actually got up to 325 this last Summer Today, I'm down to 306.6 and havnt been sleeved yet. I was talking to my daughter yesterday and got sad thinking that even if I lost 100lb....I'd still be obese.

Please hang in there. Your wt number may be bigger than mine, but your feelings are much the same. Your success will feel the same. I'm not ever going to utter the words. "But I'm still over wt" cause I'm doing something about it....and so are you!

Hugs hugs HUGS!!!

P.S.my surgery is May 13th on day 2 of pre op and still excited

I wanna say thank you to all of you guys for the encouraging words. BELIEVE me I needed to hear it all, I get down sometimes because I think even IF I loose 200lbs, I will STILL be overweight BUT I have to remind myself that I will be 200lbs AWAY from where I use to be. I am glad I joined this forum because everybody is so supportive here and sometimes we just need another person that has been where we been to help us push a little harder. Now, Im greatful for the encouragement but yall got me crying and I dont wanna mess up my lashes so STOP it...lol

I just wanted to say, I like you :D

I remember your post on one of my threads, I liked your insight and want you to know I am here for you. But I know you being here will help me too.

That's what this "journey" is about here.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
