Recommended Posts

I lost 8 kgs within a week after my opps bt after that m on puree diet and i havent lost a gram...m so depressed...pls help...pls pls

You don't need help, you need patience!

8 kgs is a pretty good loss. Losing weight takes time, just like it took time to put it on, it will take time to take it off..

Be good to yourself follow your plan and all will be well, I promise :)

Well, I will definitely have problems. No one said anything about patience to me! Yikes, I have never been known as a patient person!!! Oh well, going to have the surgery anyway! LOL. Thanks for the heads up, Laura.

Haha! I always though patience was a virtue that I actually possessed.... Um until I had kids :P

Yeah it's not something I'm known for anymore.

:D

I am 6 months out next week.. And I have days where I'm like OMG so many people here hit goal at 6 months (show offs) what's wrong with ME!!

But lately I'm breathing and trying to find my zen place and telling myself its happening and I'm willing to have it happen slowly as long as it happens eventually :)

If I lose 5 pounds a month thats a good thing in my book, for ME.

You can't compare weight losses from person to person! Well, you can, but it's not very helpful and can lead to frustration and depression. One person might be losing 5-10 lbs per week, but they have 150+ pounds to lose. You can't even really compare when you have the same weight loss goals as someone else. A 5'7" person with a 100 lbs loss is entirely different than someone 5'2" losing 100 lbs. Or you might be more of a "couch potato" type while someone else is a natural athlete. Or you're 20 yrs older/younger, have other health issues....see? It's just too complicated and variable!

All you can do is look at what *you're* doing. You're right out of surgery and drinking your calories. But are you making GOOD choices for those calories? A milkshake is pureed ;), but skim milk with a scoop of Protein powder is much better for you. Are you trying to walk some every day? Drinking plenty of Water?

It's not just about "letting" the sleeve work for you...you still need to do everything you can to help things along. And if the answer to all the above is YES!, then you just have to keep on doing it. If it's not, then find out where you can improve and start working on those changes.

Yep, just be patient. My longest stall was 7 weeks and from then on it's been just a pound here and a pound there. Some of us are slow so don't get disappointed .. It happens. Just work with it. In the end you still get where you're going

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
