freaking out a bit...

Recommended Posts

I'm having my EGD test done today. Starting to get nervous. I've only been "the patient" in the hospital twice. That was when I had my kids! I've never been knocked out for any procedure! I know this will be a piece of cake compared to the actual surgery but it still makes me nervous. Hope I get good news!

On that note...I've did the sleep study Friday, eval yesterday, EGD today...hopefully things will be submitted to insurance by the end of the week! Keeping my fingers crossed!!! :)

Piece of cake. They'll say are you comfortable? And then you'll say when are we gonna get started? It's over! No big follow up Sx. How did your sleep study go???

I hope things go that fast today!

I was so exhausted from the sleep study! Didn't sleep well at all! Clearly not an accurate test! As far as the results go I haven't heard anything from that yet.

You know, I wonder about that too. I slept horribly for my sleep study and they claimed they got enough of me sleeping for a diagnosis but I honestly don't see how. I went home and passed out I was so tired! Lol! Good luck!

EGD went well! Just like you said...went to sleep very fast and was waking up 30 minutes later! No pain at all! They found a hernia that had been causing all my issues! Thank God they found something!

After my sleep study I came home and slept ALL MORNING!!! LOL!!

I wish I had known about the EGD test years ago!! I would have done it and had all this behind me by now! I have also been taught that everything happens for a reason. Timing is everything and it must not have been my time yet.

Cheer Mama you will be fine! I had no after effects. I felt great afterwards. I feel like the world has been lifted off my shoulders for some reason. I finally know that my acid reflux wasn't all in my head and there really is something wrong with me...well physically anyway hehe!

I will be thinking about ya! Let me know how you do! Huge Hugs!!!

Thanks! I just hope that they don't find something that would delay things. :0) Now THAT is my biggest fear.

That's what I was worried about too! Now that we know it must be fixed and I need to loose the weight all things will fall into place. Keeping fingers crossed!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
